FredGSanford
I am looking to move our league from CBS to defray some of the costs and create more prize money without raising the entry fee. I have heard that ESPN is garbage. Have any of you ever run your league on FoxSports.com? I have read a couple good reviews but I would like to hear from the only opinions I trust - Huddlers. Please comment on the user friendliness and the speed of the site as well as the live scoring. Thanks!
dherback
Not sure why people said ESPN is garbage. I've been using it for a few years now and I'm happy. I had Yahoo before that and CBS many years ago. There is absolutely no reason to not use a free site these days unless you've got some crazy rules that can't be supported. flemingd
ESPN is pretty good for what you pay. If you're willing to (maybe) make small changes to your scoring system you'll probably be pleased. I don't know anything about Fox but no real reason to go there IMO - free = ESPN. Oh, and since you are on the huddle, I'll start the nuthugging:: MFL is the best league host around. It's nice and easy to set up initially, and as far as customization it cannot be beaten. Price is more reasonable than CBS although not free - $70 or so depending on when you register/pay. www.myfantasyleague.com
FredGSanford
I realize MFL is the preferred site by many Huddlers. I was just wondering about the free Fox site, or any other free sites for that matter. We have paid CBS for over 10 years and I would like to keep the mony in our pockets and not theirs. Thanks for your feedback!
Big Country
Details about your league would be helpful in suggesting a site - For most basic leagues, you could possibly get away with yahoo. Some customization allowed to scoring, etc., but as others have said, and this goes for all of the free services, you get what you pay for. ESPN has upped their game in the last couple years, especially with their auction tool. Used that last year (taking the results and putting them into an MFL league - well, DMD did that, but I participated) and it was pretty much bug free. For anything involving keepers, IDP, non-standard scoring variants. etc., strongly reccomend MFL.
HowboutthemCowboys
Details about your league would be helpful in suggesting a site - For most basic leagues, you could possibly get away with yahoo. good info here. I'm in a low buy in local that uses yahoo. We have pretty basic ppr scoring and bid points system for FA's. It's not bad at all.
staniels12
Ran a local for 3 years on Fox while we built up a core group of owners and kept things simple. It was easy to run and kept most of the folks happy, although high traffic times on the website would grind things to a halt every now and again. It got faster by the third year for sure. But I was also concurrently in a 15 year local that has been using MFL since 2002, so it was frustrating by comparison. Basic scoring with PPR, yardage, and some long TD bonus works just fine on Fox. If you want more detailed bonuses, complicated divisions, keeper/dynasty options, or IDP then go MFL for sure. We switched from Fox to MFL last year and every single owner raved about the site even though we didn't get too in-depth into customization as of yet. If your league is a 6.5 or lower (scale of 1-10) on a hardcore Fantasy scale, then Fox will work out just fine and save you the $70. A 7 or higher and you will be better off going MFL and working the $ into your dues.

Chaos
It was some years back, but I tried it. Had to switch to a different site after week 1. Locked up on Sunday, couldn't even set our lineups. Had a lot of trouble other times too even before the season started.

It was for us last year.
