Hasselbeck to Titans

This should help CJ's numbers, if he doesn't hold out.

Given the shelf-life of RBs and the amazing numbers the kid has put up, this one would be on Tenn if that happens. I get that he signed a contract that was based on where he went in the draft, but he's arguably the best RB in the league and deserves a payday while he's still got gas in the tank.

I'm not one who is in favor of "thank you contracts" where a team is guilted into paying a dude past his prime for being great in the past. But that is not the case here.

Plus it can be designed to suit their salary cap needs. They really need to get CJ inked long term.

I'm actually shocked they've let this go as long as it has. If anything, I would at the very least, afforded him some form of assurance that we were going to get him as much capital as we could. He is that franchise and I don't normally associate a RB and the main franchise but this cat IS and he needs to receive money's that show that... IMHO of course.

I'm not sure that they had a choice. I think the "CBA" that was in place last year limited them on what they could do and that they had to wait for a new CBA. Now that it's here, they should tell his agent that as soon as FA is over that they'll get it done, but I think they had to wait?

Remember his threat to hold out last year but the Titans came back with a 2 million dollar deal? It was a token jester and they had an opportunity then to get him a solid contract. But, as you stated, there might have been some underlying CBA demons that they both might have wanted to wait for a new CBA.

any fantasy value in those WR's in Tennessee?

Kenny Britt produced big with Collins and Vince Young throwing to him last year. With Hasselbeck, who is a much better passer than either dumpster fire previously mentioned I think his value gets a boost.

George Attelah was on PFT the other day and said that the NFLPA is going to put up a fight in regards to player suspensions for guys who got in trouble during the lockout. After listening to what he had to say, I don't see the NFL being able to suspend Britt for his knuckleheadedness during the lockout. Britt wins big.

Great signing. Hasselbeck has plenty left to lead the team this year, and will be a great mentor for Locker. He was the guy the Titans were targeting even before Collins retired.

As for the Chris Johnson stuff, they gave him some money in a deal last year in order to get him to hold off for one more year before a new contract. Because of the rules in the old CBA, they were not allowed to discuss a new deal within a year of the last one, so they weren't able to do anything until July. By the time they could talk again, the lockout was in place so they still couldn't do anything. However, it is a priority from what I can tell, so I doubt there will be much of a hold out (if any at all).

Don't count Hasselbeck out. This will be the best lines he has played behind for quite some time, and I'm pretty sure he's never had a running back like CJ to take the pressure off either. Yeah, he's an old fart that looked used up last year, but sometimes these old timers are reborn with new scenery. He doesn't have to win games, just manage them. He will be a perfect fit for the transition. Nice move by Tennessee, and CJ owners can rejoice. Well, after he holds out anyway... .

Agreed. Would have preferred him over McDooosh in Minnesota in a heartbeat.

With Locker and Hass set to lead the Titans into the future there will be a lot of WA state fans cheering for the Titans. Heck, young kids in my neighborhood already started sporting their Titan Locker Jersey's around the block.

Beats rooting for the Seahawks. Good luck with TJax!
