bostonsoxandy
before free agency i thought Armstrong may be a nice sleeper or just someone to keep an eye on in the waiver wire...there goes that idea
BearBroncos
So much for the Hankerson hype train . . .at least for 2011 I wouldn't go as far to say that. Hankerson is their big, vertical guy. Armstrong and Stallworth will be the outside guys and Gaffney and Moss their possession guys.
bostonsoxandy
cuz of Gaffney and Stallworth? also the resigning of Santana Moss...when it was just Armstrong and Hankerson he was a nice sleeper. they resign Moss and he has some potential i guess, and then they trade in Gaffney and sign Stallworth-just too much competition i guess. I thought that was their bread and butter. Plus Moss isnt exactly a Boldin possession receiver, he still has some speed.

Plus Moss isnt exactly a Boldin possession receiver, he still has some speed. That was the big reason why the Ravens signed him but they were a tad concerned about his health issues (don't blame them) and also drafted Torrey Smith which I think is faster than Stallworth. Moss is their slot guy, no doubt about that. He has speed, but there isn't a better guy out of the lot than can get seperation over the middle like Moss can. Gaffney will just have to by some time behind Moss is all. Hankerson will be end zone gold. He is the big man and if your a Cooley owner, sell high (IMHO)
bpwallace49
IMO if any position for rookies will suffer this year, IMO it is WRs (besides the obvious QB). I think that Washington is stockpiling vets as a stopgap, and they dont expect much out of Hankerson as a result for the 2011 season. Now NEXT year . . . I actually think this year will see the biggest production from rookie receivers then we've seen in a while. There will be an immediate impact from Julio, AJG, Young, Hankerson, Little and Baldwin. Young being the least favorite to put any substantial number this year. Julio being that White needed that catapult with another big receiver to get some attention. AJG, well, self explanitory and if Palmer is there which is looking more like its happening, he could be fantasy gold as well. Baldwin is in a similar situation as is Julio but I honestly think Baldwin has a better production year. Hankerson I've explained ans stick to my guns on. and Young is the needed, missing element to a already pass heavy offense. He could be the Mike Wallace on the Lions but will only get about 30-40 looks this season but I bet 5 td's. 3 of which are 70+ yards. Little should be self explanatory but with McCoy healthy and no true #1, little makes his pay day. flemingd
The QB situation is a far bigger hurdle for Hankerson (or any WR0 to overcome in order to breakout than the stiffs being brought in as "competition".

I should have stated that up front, as that seems very obvious for the WRs that are penciled in as starters. I actually had Hankerson penciled in as a starter despite his draft position, but all the new WR signings have me rethinking that position. Hankerson is NOT one of the top prospects in the draft IMO, and to me the stockpiling of vets indictaes that they would rather get by with semi-proven vets and have Hankerson play a contributory role. Full disclosure, I do not own any of the Washington WRs in any leagues. Do you own Hankerson?
delusions of grandeur
AJG, well, self explanitory and if Palmer is there which is looking more like its happening, he could be fantasy gold as well. BearBroncos
Read the news at all lately? Mike Brown is a stubborn idiot, and Carson Palmer is done. I was hoping that Palmer would stick it out. Brown is an idiot for at least not getting any value for him when he had a chance. That's arrogance and poor business. That being said, not to worried about AJ. Even with a rookie throwing to him (still some older gents available as well), he should rack up some good numbers. BTW, anyone her the Vaugh Miller interview? The interviewer asked that now the new CBA is out, is he mad that he's not getting the pay day that the 1st rounders got last year. His response was awesome in that he said "I've played for free all these years and I love the game so no, it doesn't bother me" Paraphrased of course. What a classy response . OCSkins
They just added Brandon Stokley. Wish I knew what the Shannys are thinking. Why so many WRs---to give Beck some experienced targets? To give the young guys time to develop? Or simply to create competition? Now we have: Anthony Armstrong Brandon Banks Santana Moss Roydell Williams Jabar Gaffney Donte Stallworth Brandon Stokley Terrence Austin Malcolm Kelly Taurus Johnson Maurice Price Leonard Hankerson (unsigned '11 draft pick) Niles Paul (unsigned '11 draft pick) Aldrick Robinson (unsigned '11 draft pick) That's 14 guys right there, and who knows if they'll add more!!!!! How many can we possibly keep, even including the practice squad?

OCSkins
I don't know about that bosoxandy....Armstrong is still their vertical deep threat and his only "competition" for that spot is Donte Stallworth, who tweaks a hamstring if he sits down to poo. So I think Armstrong is still a solid sleeper. Also, just read the Skins signed CB Josh Wilson away from the Ravens. This is a GREAT signing. With him, DeAngelo, Landry and AJ Otogwe, we are very solid in the secondary. We already have very good linebackers, so maybe the Skins D/ST might become fantasy-relevant. Especially if we can get Cullen Jenkins!
