Footballjoe
(RotoWire) Moss has decided to retire, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire," said Randy Moss' agent, Joel Segal. Analysis: Moss had upside since he was getting double coverage at times even after he left New England last season, but it sounds like he was getting underwhelming offers. Still, expect there to be speculation that he'll decide to return if the offer is right. Figured it needed its own thread

Whiskey Pimp
As soon as a few teams get some injuries during training camp and pre-season someone will contact Moss and offer something better than what he's been getting to date and he'll be playing in 2011. The Wolf
Regardless, I think only is head kept him from being the best WR ever. Look what he did accomplish...as a head case...

bpwallace49
Sad end to a great career . . . nobody wants him anymore? Too bad his attitude got in the way of his talent at this point.
Brentastic
I think the perception of Moss being a head case is a bit overblown. He never alienated his teammates like T.O. did. Besides maybe taking some plays off, what sort of problems did he start? I've always heard he was a hard worker and a great teammate

I'm sure there are some other stories if I looked around. If you boil all the BS out of it, he played his way off of 3 teams last year. Seems to say a lot, but you're right we don't have tons of specifics on how he has been in the locker room. Maybe he is just asking for too much money? I have a problem with anyone who doesn't give 100% at what they do, and I just never liked his attitude in general, but I mostly say good riddance as a fantasy player. I draft him, he takes the year off, I avoid him, he catches 20 TDs. F him.
Grits and Shins
Not a surprise to me ... he was always a / primadona. Nobody is willing to give him the money he thinks he is worth so he is stomping his feet and going home.

Nobody is willing to give him the money he thinks he is worth so he is stomping his feet and going home. Well, let's not get carried away. Sure, I'm no fan of his attitude either, but it appears you're pretty much ready to hate on him regardless. If he were to sign somewhere, "Oh, he's just looking to bilk another team for a paycheck". Hell, if he's no more into this year than he was at the end of last year, retiring seems like the honorable thing to do.

He is not in the top 3 for receptions (8th), receiving yards (5th), or yards per game (9th). He is tied for second in receiving TD's though. theprofessor
The guy was a special player in his prime. Unfortunately his prime left him a couple years ago, He can't create any separation anymore and has never had the balls to go over the middle. He's done. Great career. Thanks for the memories Randy. Hell, if he's no more into this year than he was at the end of last year, retiring seems like the honorable thing to do. My problem with Randy is definitely his attitude and he always seemed to be more concerned about Randy Moss than anything else, including his team. I think he wants to be paid like he is still the Randy Moss that came into the league 13 years ago when last year shows us clearly that he is not. So my statement is a reflection of his decline in skills (and he was obviously a very talented WR), his poor attitude and his inability to be a part of a team (unless that team is winning and Randy is getting his). You can get away with a lot when you are performing at a high level ... but when you are mediocre to average with baggage ... not so much. Oh snap. I was also going to point out that Anquan Boldin caught more passes for more yards in HIS rookie season, though only 8 tds.

Brentastic
Never played in the league but don't you think that, just maybe, taking plays off and acting like a Showtime Rotisserie alienates teammates? I imagine a lot of WRs take plays off. So goes the position. I find it hard to believe that most WRs run hard every play even though they might only be the target on 25% of those plays. Just sayin... lennykravitz2004
...I catch a beat runnin like Randy Moss... Outkast, "The Whole World" It's what I think of every time I hear his name. And whatever it really means, it just sounds badass to me... On the other hand... I had him on my team the year he was trying to keep his start streak alive, and jerking us all around on how much time he'd see on the field. Thanks. _uckface. Henry Muto
Thank you Randy Moss!!!!!!!!! Today is a sad day for me but I thank you Randy Moss for what you have done in your career. I remember scouting you at Marshall in 1996 and 1997 and saying to myself I have got to have this guy on my team. I have to give a big thank you to DeMoines who had picks 1 and 2 in 1998 and for him taking Robert Edwards and Ryan Leaf. I also have to give a big thank you to Tennessee who had the 3 pick and traded that pick to me for pick 7, Gary Brown and Troy Brown. I also have to give a big thank you to Randy Moss who helped me win 7 CFL Championships in his 13 years with Charleston. I remember sitting him week 1 in 1998 and he scored 2 TD's vs TB and I said to myself "I will never sit you again" and for the better part of 13 years he played for my team game after game. So if this is really the end I just want to say thank you Randy and your jersey will hanging in the rafters. Thank you Randy Moss!!!!!!!!
