half_hennessy
I am wondering for anyone who has had experience running a league at MFL is their a way when using contracts in a dynasty league to have a space on your roster for contracts which have been used on dropped players to be counted against your contract years? I have been playing around with a few things for about a month or so on this and can't seem to find anything. I am sure I have been in a league with it before and I am probably just over looking something. Thanks in advance.
Big Country
Not positive if there is a way with contract years, but in one league what we do is also use the salary field. Salary is equal to contract years, and there is the option to make salary adjustments to show what is counting against someone. One other option may be to create a custom player for each team and put the contracts on that player. Or, they may already support this. Only in the one league above that has contract penalties for dropped players and that is how it is being handled.
Bronco Billy
In ATAP we use a false player names "ZZownername" as a safety on everyone's team that accumulates those years. When a player is dropped with dead years attached, those years get assigned to zzsafety through the contract year managment page. FYI - we use zzsafety because safeties are listed last among playere positions in mfl IDP leagues, and the zz leader will make them show up last on the player page among all the safeties. Sounds a little convoluted, but it is pretty easy to get the hang of and then manage once you do.
delusions of grandeur
Kudos to whoever originally came up with this, but in LLD we did it where you create a fictional player for each team named "Dead, Years" but just a different NFL team per each one for record-keeping purposes. Then you can also create an extra IR spot, and get the owners (or do it yourself as commish if your league doesn't mind getting 12 emails at once) to place it on IR to keep it out of the way and separate from your roster... Of course the commish has to be diligent in updating them with the correct # of years, but obviously no different than setting up contracts on there anyway... (ETA: Just saw BB's post, but by placing them on IR, it will keep them out of the way just as easily as making them a Z name) Edited August 9, 2011 by delusions of granduer
