Sturphy
Am I the only one that thinks Tarvaris can be successful in Seattle? Surrounded by solid offensive weapons, a system he knows really well, and coaches that are actually willing to give him a chance? I'm just sayin... guy has a chance here. You're obviously not a Vikings fan that has watched his "progression" since he was drafted. Dude's dumber then a box of rocks. His brain isn't large enough to grasp the logic required to be a starting NFL QB. He has a strong arm and is a good athlete, but they won't be able to coach the dumb out of him. Sturphy
True, not a Viqueens fan, but I am a Packer fan and was very happy when we faced him. So, I kept up with him somewhat. I never felt like he was as dumb as a box of rocks. But, he did make some terrible decisions. Just seemed like no one wanted him there the minute he was drafted. Hey, change of scenery... ya nevah know.
Hugh 0ne
Just seemed like no one wanted him there the minute he was drafted. Disagree completely. Childress did everything in his power to try and make the TJax experiment work, because Childress was the dumbass that moved up in the draft to take TJax way too early. I think the only way a change of scenery would help TJax would be if he chose a different profession. And even then I'm not so sure.
Seahawks21
Carroll had no choice but to name Tarvaris the starter. With no OTA's and the shortened camp, and with Whitehurst being relatively green, implementing a new offense in such a short amount of time should happen much more quickly if the QB knows the offense. Jackson has basicallly been another coach on the field to this point. Without him, nobody on the offense outside of Rice would know how to make adjustments on the fly. Carroll had to give the reigns to Jackson and let him try to get everybody on the same page. Everybody is saying that it must be a huge indictment on what they think of Whitehurst, but really I don't think Carroll had a choice. The beginning of the Seahawks' schedule is absolutely brutal. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Seahawks start out something like 1-5, 2-6, or something like that, and we end up seeing Whitehurst once he's had a bit more of a chance to digest the offense. Also, part of me is a little excited for Tarvaris. At least it shouldn't be as boring as our offense has been for the past several years. I don't know whether or not he's going to be successful, but at least there is some new, hungry blood on the field. Jackson during one season started like 8-1. Maybe there is some potential there, and maybe he learned a few things from Favre since we've seen him last. Not holding my breath, but I'm anxious to see what happens. dfv87
Mike Morris (KFAN/Ex Vike) stated Tjack is a great practice guy, a great lockeroom guy, a great all around teammate... but in the games he gets the deer in the head lights, I am paraphrasing but essentially he likes Tjack but not as a starting QB... I think Tjack will work hard, have flashes of getting it, but int he end he is not the NFL QB he was drafted to be. I agree with MM.
Sturphy
Childress was the dumbass that moved up in the draft to take TJax way too early. I thought this was the reason everyone (except Chilly) was instantly down on TJax. He was too big a project to take that early. Anyway, I'm not sure I buy the "he's a placeholder till the coming of the great Whitehurst" argument. But, it's another interesting QB situation for the season. CaP'N GRuNGe
Obviously Carroll is angling to get the #1 pick in next year's draft and grab Andrew Luck with this move. Or maybe he is really that dense. Of all the QBs available, let's go get Jackson!

He's got a new OC, new system, and 4 weeks to field a team for games that count. He invested heavily in other areas like OL and WR to help support the guy, and he goes and gets a guy that wont' be lost in the system. Knowing George Foreman Grill you are doing is a huge advantage and Jackson has that over Whitehurst at the moment. IIt's a pretty low-risk contract at only 2 years and 8 mil so they don't hurt their ability next season to spend money. If Whitehurst wins the job they don't waste a ton of money and it not they are in a position to address QB next season.

Just because Jackson was taught the system doesn't mean he didn't already show he was lost in it. Look, for his sake I hope a lightbulb does come on, but he's had chances in the past to do so and continually showed he just couldn't do it. bostonsoxandy
Surrounding him with Marshawn Lynch, Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, Mike Williams, and Zach Miller makes me think he has a chance to be a serviceable NFL QB. He has never gotten a legitimate shot until now to become a team's main QB (the Vikings during his time always had Favre, were always looking for other options and never gave him a decent chance). His career QB rating is 76.6 which isn't terrible by any means, and I think he hasn't had the talent at WR he will have in Seattle before in his career. I'll be very interested in watching. I think Jackson is under-rated. He isn't going to be a stud, but I see some very real possibility for a solid NFL quality starter in him. Minnesota's offensive coordinator last year, Darrell Bevel, is now the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks. hence the familiarity. Plus they have done a lot of work rebuilding that o-line, which should help Tjax . .

Hugh 0ne
They could play on the Field of Dreams, with Pro-Bowlers in every position on his team, against the Detroit Lions, and he would still suck. But you guys jumping on the TJax bandwagon do crack me up, so thanks for that.

Of all the QBs available, let's go get Jackson! unfortunately Seachicks will win 4-5 games and miss out on the Luck sweepstakes I am afraid - cincy, Buff, Cle, Car got that one covered BUT nice year for QB's and both Landry Jones and Barkely will be outstanding to hopefully land, so we got that going for us. ETA - I gree with h1, Jackson sucks, I cant stand how he plays the QB position - it is painful to watch. Seahawks21
I don't see this team regressing as much as everyone thinks. Matt Hasselbeck wasn't particularly good last year. If Jackson can play average, it might actually be a bit of an improvement. The Hawks also should finally be able to run the ball a little bit. Both lines look solid. I think Carroll finds a way to coach these kids to more wins that people are giving him credit for.

T-Jax was replaced by Gus Ferrottte in 2008 (the year before Favre) due to an injury and poor play and then when Gus got the Vikings into the playoffs Chilly put T-Jax in against Philly where he played horribly and lost. That was one of the reasons the Vikings went after Favre. Last year after seeing Sage adn T-Jax in minicamp Chilly sent Longwell, Hutchinson, and Allen to fetch Favre back. Then Chilly traded Sage and kept T-Jax!! T-Jax had AD and a pretty good line and decent receivers when he was with the Vikings. Even last year after Favre got hurt T-Jax couldn't hold onto the starting job. (again injury adn poor play) He lost it to the rookie Webb who started camp as a WR!!! But hey maybe he will be the next Steve Young...

Downgrade Lynch as he will see lots of bodies waiting for him. IMO

MikesVikes
Could TJax be the next Rich Gannon and figure things out later in his career? He could. Could TJax become a better quarterback even though he no longer has Brad Childress coaching him up? He could. Could MikesVikes win the powerball on Wednesday and then also again on Saturday? He could.
