Rookie Pranks

Change their team name to Cleveland Steamers.

Using Google Images, put in their team name and find the most odd picture you can to make it their team icon.

Shave their heads like Friar Tuck. Strap them to a goalpost if they fight you too hard.

As commish, go in and trade a good player for a stinker. When he complains, just shrug and say it must be a software glitch but there's not much that can be done about it now. Write it down so you can remember to undo it,

If they have a Same Namer, or similar name, as commish go change their roster. CJ2K for the Chris Johnson DB from Oakland (you'll have to add IDP options with 0 starters), or Adrian Peterson for Adrian Peterson. Brandon Jackson for Brandon Jacobs. Then have another owner claim the real guy off waivers. Again, write it down so you can fix it.

I have one guy in our league who perpetually sucks. He still can't name his own team, he's gone from Never Contended to Nearly Contended to Nearly Contended This One Time At Band Camp - I'm gonna have fun with this google image

Make them sit in front of all of you and quiz them on their football knowledge. Make up some obsure questions that everyone seems to know but them. Tell them they have to pass the test in order to be in the league and everyone has had to go through this and passed with flying colors so there shouldn't be any problems. After the questioning, send them out and tell them we'll let you know. When they come back tell them, you can't believe someone envited them. Their lack of knowledge is unbelievable and your going to have to cancel the draft in order to get two new guys. Act discussed that they wasted everyone's time. Take it as far as you can then let them in on it.

Questions like : How many yards and touchdowns did (insert WR) have in 2010. How many TD's pass did (insert QB) throw last year. Here's an easy one, how many 3-4 teams are there. Or How many teams use the west coast offense. Or what is the average draft position of an elite TE.

You all know the answers like DUH you guys don't no that really? Important to have one guy that is really pissed that they don't know and one guy that kind of sticks up for them saying ask a few more questions maybe the spent there time studying something else.

The pissed guy wants to know who invited these dumn arses and why they didn't vet them properly to find out they knew their football.

We had a great time with this in our league. The Vets look like know it all football gods while the newbs are in awe that they are so unprepared!

Hell, most leagues are just looking for a guy with a pulse that at least knows that the football associated with this league is the one you CAN use your hands with. Everything outside of that is irrelevant. Let the trading begin! "Hey man, rumor has it, Rivers could lose his starting gig. I'll give you and hall of fame QB in Brett Favre. You've heard of Brett Favre, right?"

unless you are a commish. maybe one of the worst things a commish can do is invite the guy that takes plax with the first pick and a D/ST with their second.

In all honesty, I agree. Someone should have stopped him or at least provided some sort of consultation. Every rookie needs to make mistakes, but that's a dozy.

no doubt. it gives teams wins that they shouldn't get and sends teams to the playoffs that shouldnt be there. Further - it more than likely kills the hobby for the new guy because he got his butt kicked so badly and because he likely became the butt of everyone's jokes.

convince them the draft is at 4am.

Or you could get the other owners in on a fake draft at a time you know he won't be available. Tell him you tried to get a hold of him about it but he never emailed you back. Tell him that his picks had to be autoselected because he didn't show, and give him 4 kickers along with a bunch of injured players and bums.

Or them, I should say. That one would probably be easier to do with fewer people. I like the idea of telling them the draft is at an inconvenient time of the day/night though. Hopefully they would all show up, look around and be like, W-Th-F????!!!!! (and I don't mean wednesday thursday friday).
