Opening Night vs. President's Address

The President has moved his "Jobs" speech to Thursday Sept 8th in direct conflict with opening night in the NFL. What do you think will happen?

Will NBC show the first regular season game as scheduled?

Is he flucking nuts?

 he wanted it the day before.

Boehner asked him tio move it and suggested the 8th.

Regardless of why, here we are. I really hope NBC doesn't cave in here. I guarantee you that more people would rather watch the opening kickoff. I'm sure there will be a ton of pressure on the Network to cover the speech though.

Whoa - wait a minute. The GOP has had a debate scheduled for quite a while on the 7th. Obama came back from vacation with his new jobs program (ie- Stimulus II)and attempted to go over the top of that with his nationally televised speech, and Boehner refused to comply.

Looks like Obama loses to the Packers yet again.

If the other networks carry the speech and NBC shows the game, NBC might set a record for ratings.

And this is why NBC will show the speech. NBC doesn't care about ratings. They will get reimburse by the gov't, O I mean us the tax payers. Just more proof that the gov't and the media really don't care about the people.

LOL.

Which is why I think there will be considerable pressure on NBC execs to carry the speech. Obama will most likely not want to reschedule again, and he certainly doesn't want to get shown up by a football game.

It's possible that they might try to squeeze the speech in just before the game, but I would guess that instead they try to push the Kickoff back in order to accomodate the President. Totally a guess on my part here though.

Isn't NBC owned by GE and aint they on a "Environmental" kick right now. They need to show the presidents speech in order to save the world but causing a rash of televisions sets being shut off simultaneously

He's going to lose the drunk football dad vote no matter what he does.

What a clown.

Given his affinity for hoops, maybe he's just pised that the NBA is still in shambles. Either way, you'd think that he would have some kind of public image advisor ( as lame of a job they're doing) to strongly advise against this move. From the book: "Winning Votes for Dummies"

I guarantee that if NBC carries the speech instead of the game he will lose whatever little chance he had in taking WI in the next election. If there is one thing that unifies Republicans and Democrats (in WI) it's football.

Go ahead, Obama, Make my Day.
