Big Dogs
Looking to see what teams cut who today, and if there were any big names out there. So far, just read that the confirmed cuts for the Colts as of about 3pm this afternoon that I was able to find..... DT - Tommie Harris DT - Ricardo Mathews DE - John Chick RB - Javarris James P - Travis Baltz QB - Dan Orlovsky - no big surprise here with the signing of Collins WR - Taj Smith Rookie DT - Ollie Ogbu OL - Jacques McClendon TE - Michael Matthews No big surprises other than Tommie Harris. He played fairly well in camp and supposedly came in with a chip on his shoulder trying to prove he could compete after getting cut by the Bears. This leaves us thin again at DT.... I know this is a business and some of these guys are expecting it, but it still sucks!! Edited September 3, 2011 by Big Dogs

bostonsoxandy
Pats cut Merriweather.....why Belichick why? I know there were rumors, but the dude is a 2x pro-bowler and still young! Gotta give Belichick some leeway considering he is a genius and all..but from a fan's perspective I'm gonna miss Merriweather
i_am_the_swammi
Eagles up-to-the-minute: RB Graig Cooper WR Rod Harper FB Stanley Havili TE Cornelius Ingram, LB Rashad Jeanty G Dallas Reynolds C A.Q. Shipley, S Jamar Wall DE Chris Wilson WR Chad Hall WR Sinorice Rice OL Max Jean-Gilles DL Anthony Hargrove DL Derek Landri CB Joselio Hanson C Mike McGlynn OT Austin Howard TE Donald Lee Hanson, Landri, Jean-Gilles and hall will all be working within a week. Hanson was desperately shopped, but no takers, as everyone knew he would be cut. He'll be a solid nickel CB for some other team shortly. Hall was also a surprise....dropsies in pre-season sealed his fate. ETA: Donald Lee did indeed get released. Somewhat surprised, as he would have added a veteran presence that knew Reid's offense inside and out. He'll be added shortly. Pratts
Surprised to see the Bengals cut Jay Finley. I just read Marvin Lewis raving about the guy--said he could be their Darren Sproles.
Bronco Billy
No hugh surprises except GB is keeping 5 WR's and 5 TE's No surprise there, either. The top 3 TEs can play multiple positions - Finley can be split out wide, as can Williams. Both Quarless and Williams can play in the backfield. I imagine Taylor and Crabtree have looked good on ST and have shown some promise at TE as well.
Bronco Billy
Just posted The Broncos have cut: WR David Anderson released - made some plays in camp DE Jeremy Beal waived CB Brandon Bing waived LB Alvin Bowen waived DT Ronnell Brown waived G Jeff Byers waived CB Perrish Cox waived G Stanley Daniels waived WR Britt Davis waived WR D'Andre Goodwin waived T Adam Grant waived TE Dan Gronkowski waived K Steven Hauschka waived DT Jeremy Jarmon waived RB Jeremiah Johnson waived - looked very good in Fox's O S Kyle McCarthy waived G Eric Olsen waived WR Greg Orton waived DT DeMario Pressley waived WR Eron Riley waived - also looked very good in the chances he got LB Lee Robinson waived TE Dante Rosario released leaves blocker Fells and very athletic rookies Thomas and Green as only TEs on roster RB Austin Sylvester waived QB Adam Weber waived WR Jamel Hamler, CB Syd'Quan Thompson and WR Jamel Hamler were all placed on injured reserve. ____________________________ Demariyus Thomas probably to be PUPed. Expect a few more cuts after DEN starts picking up on the WW, most notably FA DTs. Looks like they aren't going to risk Virgil Green getting snapped up by KC after the Moeaki injury by trying to sneak him onto the PS Edited September 3, 2011 by Bronco Billy

delfamdelfam
wonder if Eagles would get Merriweather? They liked him leading up to the draft and they do need a safety. But with his character issues I'm not sure if Andy would take him.
Bronco Billy
Dolphins released RB Larry Johnson. Armando Salguero on Twitter Sep 3 - 4:53 PM ------------------ I'm more than midly surprised. LJ looked a hell of a lot better than Daniel Thomas in preseason - and I for one thought going into preseason that Thomas was a guy to roster. Look for Reggie Bush to get plenty of work - meaning barring injury that he's seriously undervalued right now at an ADP of 7.
Chargerz
I'm mildly surprised the Chargers released Seyi Ajirotutu, especially since I just learned to spell his name without looking it up.

Crazysight
Pats released Brandon Tate...that's a bit of a surprise to me, though I never saw him as being that good to begin with. Guess BB didn't either.
Crazysight
Wow, the Rams released Donnie Avery?? That's pretty shocking to me considering that he's been rather productive this preseason and reportedly has his speed back. It especially surprises me that they elected to keep Danario Alexander, who simply hasn't been able to stay healthy and hasn't played or done anything all preseason. Guess BB didn't either. gotta say, I'm disappointed to see Merriweather and Tate go. I don't think of either as a bust. Tate was with Nicks at UNC and we all know how good Nicks is now, Tate was better @ UNC. Never really had a fair shot at starting.
