buddahj
Does does this signing affect M. Wright?
Czarina
I think Meriweather didn't make it here because he kept on thinking he was better than the team 'system.' He was convinced that he should play the way he wanted to and not how he was told. So he'd be out of position often and take bad angles to the play. He also appears to be as dumb as a bag of hammers. That said, he does have some talent and he's sure to brighten up local sports talk radio.
Brentastic
Love the signing. Anytime you can sign a pro-bowler who is just hitting his prime, that's a good thing. Again, he may be a thug and may get cut by Chicago but why not take a chance. There's plenty of upside here.
Czarina
You do realize that he was a pro bowler only because the people who were voted in didn't attend? Just sayin'.

Yes, he was a replacement. Still means something, imo. He's worth taking a chance on, that's for sure.
gilthorp
Seeing Steltz and Conte play fragile the last two games had a lot to do with this signing. Wright whiffing on some tackles didn't help his cause. This guy is a starter in this D backfield for sure.
BearBroncos
I think Meriweather is nothing more than a stop gap for Wright to develop. I think the job will be Wrights, but later in the season, if not next year. It's only a 1 year contract and I think the Bears are happy with Wright, but want certainty at the position. Meriweather provides that for the short period.
