The $100 million RB

Some of us are old enough to remember (or have read about) the amazement when Joe Namath was signed as the "four hundred thousand dollar' quarterback, the sports world being on its ear that any pro player could command that kind of money. I'm way too lazy to look it up even on Google or some such, but I wonder what $400,000.00 amounts to these days in inflation adjusted dollars? As I recall, Joe was signed in 1965, 4 or 5 year deal (I forget the annual salary) with the bonus structure getting him to the $400k figure.

LOVE the kid. One of the best football players I've ever seen, but this is a bad contract at this point in his career. Could prevent Minnesota from being relevant for several years to come. I know when they've got AD they've always got a shot, but now they aren't going to have as good of a chance to get playoff level talent at several other positions that they need. I'm not sure I build my team around a RB in this day and age.

Look at it this way, its just like the Herschel Walker deal only didn't cost quite as much (personnel wise) and eliminated the middle man.
