Deathpig
In the OAK/DEN game, Oakland just blocked a punt. The ball traveled forward past DEN's first down marker, recovered by DEN and downed. Why isn't it DEN's ball? If the punt went downfield and was touched by a Raider then recovered by a Bronco, it'd be DEN's ball. I obviously don't understand the rules for punts, so why is this not DEN's ball? (I don't have a player on either team, so I could care less who has it... just curious why a tipped/blocked punt appears to function differently than a muffed one.) Chloroform Rx
I believe the ball has to be touched by the other team after it has already passed the line of scrimmage for the kicking team to be able to take possession w/ a first down. But I could be wrong.
