Will Simpson play this weekend and is Caldwell a good swap for him?

why wouldn't he play? Do you think the team will suspend him? I don't.

Jerome Simpson - WR - Bengals

The Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy would be "very surprised" if Jerome Simpson is active for this week's game against the 49ers.

The Bengals are expected to let Simpson chill after 8.5 pounds of Josh Gordon were discovered at his house on Tuesday. He's no longer a hot waiver wire claim. Andre Caldwell is expected to move into the starting lineup opposite A.J. Green. We wouldn't rank Caldwell as a top-50 option this week.

Bengals HC Marvin Lewis has left open the door for Jerome Simpson (questionable, personal) to be active against the 49ers on Sunday.

"We’re still taking to people and figuring out what the best thing is for Jerome," Lewis said. "Any decisions I make on it are going to be based on what people recommend is the best thing for him." It sounds like Simpson will essentially be a game-time decision after getting caught with 8.5 pounds of Josh Gordon on Tuesday. If he does play, he won't be in for a full complement of snaps after missing the Bengals' past two practices.

I find this very troubling and typical of the NFL. I just don't see how any franchise allows a player to play after something like this happens, but the moral police don't exactly frequent the NFL too much.

It came in under the 4 kilo automatic suspension rule that was worked out in the new CBA.

I say he sits. Given the historical reputation of the Bengals as being overly tolerant (even in the context of being an NFL team) of misbehavior, I think the Bengals brass will finally step up, as otherwise the team loses any speck of credibility it still holds in terms of discipline.
