Grits and Shins
Clearly Garrett > Wade Clearly Ryan has improved the defense But as much taco as everybody (myself included) is giving Romo don't we have to assign some responsibility to the man calling the plays too? Isn't it Garrett's responsibility to put Romo in a spot where he can win the game? With the defense playing well and a lead doesn't it make sense to grind the ball out a little bit? Especially if you consider that your franchise QB already has hurt ribs?

Czarina
I think your real problem is that as time passes, Garrett looks increasingly like Jerry Jones. It's creepy.
Puddy
Romo has deservedly gotten his share of the blame. I haven't seen much written on a couple of crappy coaching decisions by Garrett. You pass on a field goal in the first quarter and get stuffed (did he really think that was the time to put the nail in the Lions coffin)? And then you decline a penalty late that would have pushed the Lions out of field goal range (Jason Hanson promptly kicked a 51 yarder). Maybe the Dallas media is discussing this but I haven't seen anything nationally. You'd think the would have learned from Leslie Frazier's dumb decision not to kick a FG last week as well. So while I am celebrating our 4-0 start, I'd like to thank those two geniuses for helping us avoid a 2-2 season so far. i_am_the_swammi
Below was my post after Dallas' Week 1 loss: Not that I am ever one to forgo a chance to pile on a Romo-bashing thread, but some of the blame here needs to go to Garrett, too. One of the things a coach needs to do is learn to put his players in a position to win. Garrett did just that for 50 minutes last night, and his team responded beautifully. The nail was in the coffin, and it just needed to be hammered in. 1st and goal from the 4 yards line after that hugh Witten catch and run. Run right behind the fullback and pulling guard for an easy 3 yards. 2nd down and 1....call for a pass? OK, I can live with it, but then come back and run the thing in on 3rd down (and if necessary, 4th). Why on earth did he call two consecutive pass plays from the 1 yard-line? With a QB prone to turning it over in critical spots? This after your offense picked up an easy 3 yards in its short-yardage package? I am sure the offensive line felt a tad disrespected that the head coach didn't believe they could move the pile and pick up a yard, given they had just gotten three yards on the prior play and had another 3 chances to do so Seemed very very odd... jlotze
Someone has been reading my posts. He gets too cute, and it costs the team. I also think it has to do with Jerry too...he puts fans in the seats, and I think Jerry Jones believes passing the football is so much more exciting than running it. After watching so much football on TV Sunday I noticed many teams still passing when they should have been running the time off the clock! The Cowboys defensive players go against players better than Megatron every day in practice - Megatron would be the THIRD best WR on Dallas. JUMbotron
Garrett's called post-route to Witten with 4:00 to go, up 30-27, was the worst play call of this season in the NFL. INT. Lions win.
