Chloroform Rx
Through 4 games: Julio Jones 24 rec. 342 yards Roddy White 26 rec. 302 yards How much of this can be attributed to Roddy's injury for which he has missed no game time? How much of this can be attributed to defenses focusing on Roddy White? Julio Jones got a whopping 17 targets against SEA. As an AJ and Julio Jones owner I am optimistic that he can fill the void. Would it be outlandish to say at this point that he is a high-end WR2? There's no replacing AJ but for a 10th round pick it doesn't get much better. delusions of grandeur
It has nothing to do with an injury... The Falcons are definitely giving Julio chances to succeed, and I really like what they did this week to put the ball in his hands and let him make yards after the catch. They'll start connecting on the deep plays as him and Ryan get into a rhythm with eachother. But when Ryan needs to make a play, there's no doubt who he's going to: Roddy or Tony G. He'll just hit Roddy over and over like he did in the second half of the Tampa game... But White's struggles (if you even want to call it that) are more related to the return of ol' pan hands Roddy who we thought left with Vick. IIRC, he already has more drops than he did all of last year, and has dropped some extremely catchable balls. WR2, I dunno, but yes, I'd say his floor is around a WR3 with him playing an important role on this team, but as long as Tony G and Roddy are around, his upside is going to be capped, and TDs are going to be fickle. (ETA: and as for who defenses are focusing on, it's been Turner and Ryan as much as anyone with the poor O-line play, which is allowing defenses to get away with single covering the WRs a lot of the time). BeeR
Rook WRs almost never "beast," if I correctly understand what that even means. He does have a good shot at a good season however.

He will have some big games, but I do agree that it's tough to have too huge of a season as a rookie with a crowded set of targets on a team that likes to run too (and doesn't have a good enough O-line to allow him time to get wide open as often as he could)... Moss, Boldin, and to a lesser degree Colston to name a few. It happens and Jones is in postion to become Wayne to Harrison or Holt to Bruce. Brentastic
I drafted both stud rooks in my big money league this year. We start 3 WRs and my top 2 are Calvin and Fitz. I've been rolling with Green over Jones as my #3 but that decision has been made tougher by Julio's HUGH week. I should probably make a trade so I don't have to worry about benching the wrong guy anymore. Edited October 3, 2011 by Brentastic
Seahawks21
The case this past week was that the Seahawks had Trufant on Roddy White, and a guy that's been playing in the CFL that Mike Wallace made look more like a high school player two weeks ago on the other side. Roddy made a few clutch 3rd down grabs when they needed them, but they spent a lot of the game trying to exploit the advantage on the other side. The Falcons now have the ability to do that. You'll still see Roddy get tons of targets when Jones has a decent corner on him, but Jones is already good enough to pick on teams with bad #2 CB's. He was pretty impressive this weekend. His hands are better than I thought they were.
