BillyBalata
ESPN pulls the plug on Hank Hank Williams Jr., the voice famous asking millions of football fans whether they're ready for some football, has been pulled from tonight's broadcast of "Monday Night Football" over a comment he made on Fox News this morning. Williams, who sings the lead-in song to the game each week, criticized the president for his golf summit with House Speaker John Boehner this summer. "It would be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli leader) Benjamin Netanyahu," Williams told "Fox & Friends." USA Today, among others, picked up the quote, speculating on whether the comparison would get Williams booted from the broadcast. This afternoon, ESPN released a statement to the affirmative: "While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast."

You cannot use his name pretty much in any way publicly and certainly not as a comparison. In a discussion, once Hitler's name is brought up it means the conversation is over and irrational thought and name calling are on their way. I am not even sure how you teach world history. Those who use his name are going to piss off someone.

Phat Rugby
How am I to be ready for some football now? Damn you ESPN! Justin Beiber just volunteered to sing the opening as long as the cast of Dinsey's "Shake it Up" are present.
Rovers
The song was awful anyway This. I'm sick of this intro song, and have ALWAYS hit the remote until it was over. As for Mr Hanky Jr, he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
countryroads
It's better than the SNF song. The only thing that has going for it is Faith in that outfit!
Ditkaless Wonders
During the culture wars of the early 21st century there were many landmines strewn across the landscape. Some were unmarked, but many were clearly marked. In spite of the clear warnings and danger signs many hapless idiots still walked out into the minefields. One such multiple amputee was a little known singer named Hank Williams Jr. His biggest accomplishment in life, aside from trading on his family name to sell a television jingle, seems to have been his mastery of being able to vomit up his all liquid diet without leaving any residue on his beard. BeeR
This. I'm sick of this intro song, and have ALWAYS hit the remote until it was over. As for Mr Hanky Jr, he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Those. He's a no-talent lush that milked his dad's name for far too long and re the MNF people when they not only used the song but clung to it for so many years. Go back to the regular ol MNF theme song only. Way to go Hank! Have a drink! Edited October 4, 2011 by BeeR

Deathpig
Hank should have worked for CBS, they apparently have a much more lax policy about comparing sitting Presidents to Hitler.
Big Mac Bears
He didn't call Obama Hitler. He was using a metaphor to compare the meeting between Obama and Boehner to show a comparison. Typical media blowing things way out of proportion. Just like when they toasted Rush for saying that McNabb sucked. Five years later we know Rush is correct. For the record, Rush didn't get in trouble for saying McNabb sucked. He got in trouble for saying that he was overrated because "the media was desirous of seeng a black quarterback have success." Big difference.

Just like Mendenhall, he deserves to suffer the consequences of saying REALLY stupid stuff. I just wish this kind of attitude had been prevelant a few years ago, though I suppose having half of Hollywood shut down due to 'disassociation' would have been less than optimal.
