rustyc
I keep hearing stuff like.... "well its a monday night game so anything can happen." "They will be playing better.... its a Monday night game afterall" Sopapilla... when do players not try to play their best? Is there any statistics to back this up? Do players actually play better on Monday night games? I googled it and found nothing.... can anyone back this up?
lawofmurphy
No, I would guess that most players play no better statistically on Monday Night Football than any other time. I mean...what MNF is isn't even the same anymore. SNF is a much more prestigious game cause it's on NBC as opposed to ESPN and therefore, it reaches more people. The reason we tend to think players "raise their game" on MNF or any other nationally televised game (playoffs too) is because more eyeballs are watching...so a player can run for 150 yards on Sunday at 1 when his game was broadcast to both team's hometowns and not nearly as many people take notice. The same player runs for 115 yards on MNF, and he becomes a "Monday Night Killer" or whatever they call them. It happens in the playoffs too. Avernus
If I am on the fence between two players and one plays in a primetime game, I lean towards the primetime player because of the spotlight....I always go with the spotlight... Bubbahawk
i tend to like having at least one player on monday night because i feel like if it is close i still have a chance to win. It is complete B.S. and i know that but i still do it every week. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
