overworkedirish
Good kickers are good kickers, but even then they are a crapshoot. Consistency is opportunity dependent. We're only human, and some of us develop an affinity to these loveable guys at the bottom of our rosters. So, out with it: When your solid kicker is on bye, do you drop him like yesterday's Snoop Dogg song? Are you on to the next one like the heartless bastard you are? Or does he torment you in your sleep until he's back in your loving arms roster?
tazinib1
I love SeaBass and its killing me knowing that I will have to replace him soon. That being said, I'm not sure I would drop him for another kicker. There are only a few guys that can kick 50+ FG's.
slambo
I rarely get attached to a kicker. I'll hang on to a D before a K.
MrTed46
I lost by 2 this week and folk was my kicker..i dropped him before waivers.
matt770
You know, kickers are required in every league I've ever played in, but I don't think anyone would miss them if they were banned from FF entirely. In most other positions you make your lineup decisions based on recent performance and matchups. No one treats kickers that way, rostering 2 or 3 to choose from based on weather, dome, etc. Probably 90% of owners wait until one the last two rounds to grab one, just because it's a required position. Add to that, it's pretty much a crapshoot from week to week and year to year who the top kickers are going to be. So while all the other positions involve some research/skill/strategy, kicker is a lottery ticket. What's the point? Sure you could argue that games are often decided by a couple of points, but who ever says to themselves, dammit, I shoulda drafted a kicker earlier?? AND -- you end up with a top kicker and his bye week comes, now you have to drop a skill position player because you don't want to let him go. In conclusion, screw kickers. Thank you for listening. TheCMB
I don't draft 'em early, but after that I'm definitely superstitious about kickers if I think I have a good one on a good team situation. Last week I dropped Ochocinco so I could hang onto Billy Cundiff during his Week 5 bye. Ok, I guess that doesn't really prove my point. Agreed on all facets. That being said, SeaBass is the rare exception.

Darth Vader takes 'em early... Good rant Matt. Never thought much about "idiot kickers."
Grits and Shins
I just dropped Novak, the highest scoring kicker in our league since he became the starter, to cover his bye week. I would have liked to keep him, mostly so somebody else wouldn't get him, but don't have room for two kickers.
whomper
Janikowski is a game changer this year. Dude is sick
jdub!
So you guys would keep Seabass. How about Hanson?
historymike
I don't fret kickers too much. I make sure I get a kicker on a team with a good offense, meaning more trips to the red zone. I snagged Sea Bass this year very late, and he has been a nice addition to a team that is 4-1, but in my other leagues I trade out kickers based on matchups, byes, and recent FGs given up by opposing defenses. Even with this, though, there are weeks that kickers suck, and weeks they roll up tons of points (like Novak did for me this week). I think I am going to stick with Dan Bailey for a few weeks, since Dallas makes it to the red zone a lot while occasionally stalling. Zooty
I would have won last week if I had played Janikowski And if I have a really good kicker, I'll carry 2 on his bye week rather than drop him
FinZone
Bironas used to be my kicker for 3 years straight prior to this season...the leaving of Vince Young kinda threw off my chi toward him. That being said I've demoed about 3-4 kickers being: J. Brown, of course Bironas, Scobee, but lastly played Akers along with the Niners Def/St which turned out to be great and the 49ers DEF definitely seemed in-tune now this season...so imma continue with this combo going into DET coming of a MNF game...could be an upset from big win hangover and short week Edited October 12, 2011 by FinZone
STL Fan
We're considering dropping kickers and going to a two-flex lineup: QB, TE, RB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX, FLEX.
Croe
I usually just drop a kicker and pick up a new one when needed. I play the match ups with kickers a lot. I've gone through three kickers so far. But I got a hold of Novak last week and this week I dropped Ford for a kicker to keep Novak on my roster. The Waterboy
I don't understand the question. Superstitious like not to change him on a BYE? Or like you avoid moving the mouse over his name on the screen and don't change your socks for a week if he nails a 50+ yarder? I dunno. I dropped Bailey last week to add Torain and not carry the extra roster spot, but I figured a month ago I had no idea who he even was. This one jackass in my league not only spent 7% of his waiver stash to get him with Novak, Cundiff, and Nugent out there, he dropped Neil Rackers to do it! jdub!
Thanks for that. I just dropped Hanson for Bailey to avoid the bye week issues and have no regrets.
