Jared Cook

I'm not sure either. This is from rotoworld:

Offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said that Jared Cook only plays a third of the snaps because of blocking concerns.

Craig Stevens and Daniel Graham are getting plenty of playing time as the blocking tight ends. "I think when you say [Cook] is a tight end people think he is an every-down tight end. But he's not," Palmer said. Until the Titans start using Cook more often as a "move" tight end a la Aaron Hernandez or Jermichael Finley, he'll be a high-risk fantasy play.

Yep, I read that too...that's another reason I can't make sense out of the projection.

The Huddle this weeks ranks Cook as the #3 overall TE. I've looked everywhere and can't find anything to justify this. Am I missing something? Anybody know anything?

Can't speak for The Huddle but Cook has been coming on the last 2 weeks. Some think he'll pick up some of the slack due to Britt's absence. The limited snaps are a problem but he has the goods...link. My money is on Williams here but Cook has a real shot to up his game.

I have projected 50 yards and one score for Cook.

He ranks highly because I was not all that high on many tight ends this week and in terms of projected yardage - far more reliable to predict than touchdowns - he only ranks tied for 9th and just ten yards (one catch) ahead of four more tight ends.

Projecting him for 50 yards would be his lowest game in three weeks wince he had 93 yards and a score in Cleveland and then 59 yards in Pittsburgh. The Titans are at home which means an easier game for them and that touchdown I had to stick somewhere could end up most anywhere - I would never give too heavy weight to touchdowns unless my writeup says why some guy is a heavy favorite to score. The Texans have not faced any decent tight ends really other than Jimmy Graham (4-100, TD).

So I like Graham to have a slightly less game than the last three weeks and he is as good a chance to score as any but not really that much more than the rest. Consider the 40 yards players I have beneath him - Fred Davis, Brandon Pettigrew, Ben Watson and Kellen Winslow. I would definitely take the lower risk Davis and Pettigrew and maybe even Winslow over the riskier Cook.

50 + TD is what the variable suggest, but you have to consider elements not contained in numbers like risk, upside, reliability, etc.

This is why I always say that I find more value in the Predictions/Projections descriptions and start/bench over the sortable predictions (which as DMD said above, can be slightly skewed because of things like the fickle nature of TDs), and so I generally use those more to get a heads up on strong matchups (which they reiterate in their descriptions, that compared to your other options on this bye week, he could be one of the better ones)...

Moreover, with Tuvey having him as a S3 on the start/bench list and him not cracking the top 12 in the ROY rankings, reveals that there is no consensus, but more indications that he could be in for a strong week.... I think the Huddle features work much better when all used together to help form your opinion, rather than relying on any one piece of data for a definitive answer.

Thanks, I think you're right and good insight. Appreciate it man.
