Stafford knee injury

arg, i hope is isnt anything to serious. i am a big stafford fan and he has been a stud for me so far (other than this week). Good thing i have Newton and Romo as my back-ups

His foot got caught under the tackler on and bent his ankle a bit. One of those ones that twists your knee a bit when it happens which is probably why they're looking at that as a precaution. He walked off on his own power, my guess would be that it's an ankle sprain and I don't think he'll miss any time.

If Stafford is out for a while you people with QB problems and top waiver priority need to jump on Hill. He always gets it done and is the most underrated gunslinger in pro football imo.

Detroit @ DEN

Week 9 Bye

Detroit @ CHI

Detroit vs CAR

the good news is that the lions bye is week 9. so even if he's dinged up he sits out an easy win vs Denver next week. shaun hill can throw it to megatron vs that terrible defense and we (megatron owners) can all go home happy at the end of the day. that gives stafford 2 weeks to rest the knee/ankle/whatever he has hurt now, and can come back strong for the stretch run to feed the ball to megatron.

oh and 1 note from the game today. what was linehan thinking trying to force feed morris that much!! he was ineffective the entire day. what happened to the pop passes to pettigrew, quick screens to burleson and young to open things up for megatron and keep the ball moving. worse offensive play calling that they have had all year. way too conservative. shove scheffler in the backfield to help block and throw the ball!!!!

Rotoworld) Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press guesses that Matthew Stafford (knee, ankle) will play in Week 8 against the Broncos.

Analysis: This is the feeling we get as well. Birkett is just speculating, but the injuries for now appear to be minor. Look for Stafford to be limited in practice this week and perhaps to be listed as questionable on next Friday's injury report. The Lions visit Denver in a 4:05 ET game in Week 8.

One can only hope this is correct

Shaun Hill is money. That is all.

This.

I've been saying this since the offseason, after last year when I rolled with Stafford in a dynasty QBBC, and watched the guy who picked up Hill have a startable QB most of the year... Even if you're not concerned about Stafford being injury prone, consider this:

If you had started the same QB as Detroit did last year, then even with 3 games IIRC that the starters put up stinkers by getting injured, you still had the #7 fantasy QB (or somewhere around there, depending on your scoring system).

So if you got the roster room, particularly after their bye week where you could drop/trade your other QB and just roll with Stafford/Hill, it's a cheap solution for QB depth. I guess my bigger worry is that Stafford stays healthy and continues to regress due to that O-line, because he's starting to look worse than Ryan or Bradford have been, just looking uncomfortable back there and not seeing the plays or making the throws when pressured.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Falcons pass rush started looking better going up against the DET O-line.

I disagre with the problem being Stafford for the majority, even though he was rushing it a bit yesterday.

When you cannot run the ball, the Falcons can bring the all out blitz and not worry about the run. They were daring the Lions to run, but injuries are killing this Lions team right now.

I'm a huge Stafford fan, so don't get me wrong... I'm just looking for answers and reasons to either be concerned or optimistic...

I mean, if it really has that much to do with a lack of running game too, should I feel any better about the situation? Not saying, just asking that question, because I really don't know what to think about the way Stafford regressed yesterday (especially considering DET's schedule only continues to get tougher)...

I don't know how comfortable I am in starting him right now, other than against weak defensive teams without a strong pass rush.

He looked awful. I thought that the play-calling was horrible as well. They actually ran the ball okay. Stafford just looks like he has lost his confidence the past two games. Pettigrew wasn't even looked at in the 1st half and what the hell is Heller doing on the field on passing plays...he couldn't catch a cold. I know QB's have their ups and downs, Stafford is definitely searching right now...hopefully he fixes it soon.
