I am in the Chicago market and jsut noticed that the only game on at noon is NYG - MIA. Are you kidding me?!? Looks like I'll be raking leaves Sunday afternoon. Why not MIN -CAR?? or NO - STL?? What does NYG - MIA have to do with a midwest audience?

Sucks that Illinois is a dry state. Otherwise you could head down to the local sports bar and enjoy any damn game you please that's on at Noon.

Red Zone channel makes me all crazy. It doesn't feel like watching football. It is like watching a game on fast forward.

Well, watching a tacoload of commercials, now even between the TD and the PAT (which I'm convinced that the "review" after every TD is a ploy to get more advertising revenue) drives me just as crazy, so if there isn't a game on I really wanna see, then hell yeah, be my captain Chris Hanson and bounce me around commercial free to where the action is....

I kinda agree though, it does get a little old only seeing snippets of games, but for $5 for the channel vs a dish that goes out when it rains and $150+ for the NFL package, I'll take it...

Unfortunately, getting away to a sports bar isn't that easy (due to Mrs. Zekez)

Just tell her you are taking her to lunch.......

Your marriage vows didn't include full disclosure.

"Oh look honey! The game is on here. What a lucky break!"

I was wondering why that game as well but I guess I'll get to see Eli pass me to a victory

Cool to see another fan/follower of the 506.com (NFL TV distribution maps) site.

As far as why Chicago and most of the nation gets the Dolphins-Giants game early, its all about ratings and revenue. The TV networks have been doing this a long time and know pretty well what gets the best ratings. While other games may be considered more competitve, the teams involved do not draw the average NFL fan (not the hard core fantasy players and others who want to see the best game).

And RZ channel may be good for those that want to watch little pieces of many games. Its worse than watching a game on FF, its watching parts of many games mixed together. I don't care for it either.

Regarding commercials, don't most people have DVRs now? I usually take a break at 1PM kickoff, and start watching 30-60 minutes later and skip commercials all afternoon.

That's a great site. Is there a comperable site for Fox? Just wondering why Chicago has no noon game on Fox.

CBS has the doubleheader this week, so Fox has only one game. Since Chicago is a Bears market, the preference in order is the Bears, but since it is a bye week, the next order is a game involving a team within the division. DET and MIN have games, but DET is the more intriguing team since the Bears are fighting them for a wildcard slot. And the DET/DEN game is at 3 pm CT.

The site isn't specifically for CBS, Fox or any network. It has maps for each slot (in week 11 CBS early, CBS late and Fox).

The guy who runs it (JP) does it for fun and uses information pulled from many sources most of it available to the public. Maps are updated as confirmed chnages are made for various affiliates. You can zoom in on the maps and even click to see what station has coverage and the specific game they are showing.

There is a lot of discussion each week about the schedule, what markets are getting what games and why as well as many oterh topics of discussion. I think it has its routes in the area of TV broadcasting.

Some games are broadcast based on rules (e.g. Chicago station must show Bears road games), others for local interest (e.g. Chicago will show the Bears home games too, as well as other NFC North team), and others solely based on what the networks think will get the best ratings. There's also the blackout rule for non sellouts, double header vs. single header stuff, and so on. The main page at the site (506.com site) explains a lot of this

Big John is correct in his explanation, there is no noon game on Fox because the more appealing game for Chicago (according to Fox executives) is the DET-DEN game at 3PM CT.

You're looking in the wrong direction if you think I'm a person who believes anything a commercial has to say. Let's just say that a lot of my college course work involved studying rhetoric....

I thought the ticket was only free if you're signing up for a 2 year plan? Is it free the second year you're on the hook for? Haven't done the research, because it wasn't some cable commercial, but essentially a monsoon when I went to a bar to watch the UGA/S. Carolina game a few years back and missed half the game cuz their dish went out, and would have gotten pnemonia trying to go somewhere else in that mess... I don't know about you, but when it's raining like a monsoon, I kinda tend to be inside watching football...

(ETA: Not trying to start a pissing contest, but I got plenty of good reasons to be happy with my cheap reliable cable plan)

nope, been a customer for 10+ and call every year to haggle a better deal. Haven't paid the full ridiculous price in at least 5 years.

Sorry you missed a game once. That may happen one day, I've been lucky on Sundays.

Thank god cable never goes out

Last time my cable went out 12 years ago it was only out for 5 days and the refused any sort of credit though it was their fault. I can live with the periodic 15 minutes of downtime with satellite. More than triple the number of standard channels, more pay channels and same price for basic as Comca$t
