troublez
What are the odds that Megatron surpasses Moss' TD record? We all know hes unbelievable and I'm starting to think 23 is reachable. He should have had 2 today.
BeeR
Very slim. He's great but guys just don't put up those kinda TDs. And while DET is doing well that aint NE out there.
gbpackersfan
I dont think its gunna happen now. As amazing as his start this year has been, he isnt even on pace to tie that record.

In the 2007 season after 8 games moss had 11 TDs. That is what Megatron has through 8 games. He is exactly on pace to tie it.
detlef
Makes Rice's 22 in a strike-shortened season (only 12 games) even more impressive. Also, if you look at it as "TDs by a WR" rather than "receiving TDs" then they both had 23, because Rice had a rushing score that year as well. Sort of like how they scan over Vick's rushing numbers.

detlef
11tds in 8 games is on pace for 22 in 16 games, which would NOT be enough to tie or break the record. The point being that he has the same amount that Moss did through 8 games.
gbpackersfan
Thats fine, but it doesnt mean that hes "on pace" to tie the record.
detlef
Thats fine, but it doesnt mean that hes "on pace" to tie the record. Dude, he's exactly 1/2 of a TD off the mathematical pace and exactly tied with where the record holder was at this point in the season. So, it's not as if he's "not on pace" either. In fact, it would be impossible for him to be on pace to tie the record. Edited October 31, 2011 by detlef
Ice717
People don't recognize that. Sort of like how they scan over Vick's rushing numbers. Or Hester's FG return TD...
detlef
People don't recognize that. Sort of like how they scan over Vick's rushing numbers. Who are "people"? Because Vick's ability to run is discussed nearly every time his value as a QB id discussed. What should be noted, however, is that the biggest difference between Vick before and Vick now is that he's gotten so much better as a passer. So, the "haters" who pointed out that he was not a very good passer before may have been on to something. They weren't blowing off his running numbers, but rather, and rightly, pointing out that he needed to be a better passer.
