Best bang for my buck

My league is looking to do a trip next year to a game. We live on the border with Maine, so we can drive 2 hours a US airport and fly anywhere for fairly cheap. We've been to Gillette Stadium, but the tickets are insanely expensive and only accessible aftermarket (not sure if this is the case for all stadiums). I'm looking for a balance between fairly cheap tickets along with a good tailgating scene. We are willing to go just about anywhere, your comments, advice and stories would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

and parking is reasonable $8 to $25 dollars depending on where you go. Bars open until 4am in Erie county also if you get in Friday or Saturday. It's cool and very affordable

Either myself or friends have been to a bunch of stadiums and I would recommend the following (assuming you are doing a weekend and not a day trip):

1. Kansas City. Great tailgating and awesome BBQ

2. Cleveland. Go to the Hall of Fame

3. Miami. Great weather.

4. New Orleans. Burbon Street

5. Buffalo. Not in December - go in September. Really nice people.

Whatever you do, stay away from Jets/Giants. Enjoy.

Thanks to everyone for the insight, even those who tried to set me up for murder

Hey, come on down to FedEx field. You can park for $25, eat for $35, drink for $50, spend the gas money to and from the airport for $25, and buy a ticket for $75 for any seat not behind a pillar. You're at $210. You want a souvenir? Oh, and you had to buy a plane ticket. Yeah, so we're like top five stadiums right?

Nothing can compare to green bay. Tailgating is amazing, Lambeau field is awesome, and spend an extra day for the packers hall of fame

But be warned that airfare and lodging to GB can be expensive on game weekends. May be better to fly to Milwaukee and take a rental car to Green Bay gameday.

For flights. I agree

You can stay in Appleton for very little in comparison to green bay, tickets aren't that expensive compared to other stadiums from a scalper or stubhub, and the tailgating scene is the best.

If you are in Maine, you make the drive to either Manchester or Providence and pick a city that Southwest flies to...that will take some of the sting out of your cost for airfare.

Places to go? Really anywhere. With the economy being what it is, now is your chance to go to see a team that would normally have been very expensive. Eagles tickets used to be almost double face value....now you can get in for just $30-40 over face value...though some of that might be that the Phillies have been doing great in recent years, and there is only so much sports-dolllars to go around. Still, I would guess that lower-pricesis the norm anywhere these days.

Might be a solid idea to go someplace warm in December...any of the Florida teams might be a nice getaway, as well as a ticket that won't break the bank because none of their teams are especially good, so demand won't be thru the roof.

I would suggest Kansas City. While I haven't been to many NFL stadiums, I can't imagine any game day experience that included tailgating being much better than Arrowhead. The stadium is terrific, the atmosphere is electric every week, and the tailgating is amazing - welcoming fans all over the place. Kansas City is a pretty easy big city to get around in, there's casino gambling on the north side, the west side in Kansas by the speedway is a pretty cool area, and plenty of great bars in the area. Guessing if I were in Maine in the winter, I might look at going someplace warm for a weekend, too. This coming from a Minnesotan...

I'm actually in Canada, but right on the border with Maine, I can driver to Portland Maine, or Manchester New Hampshire within 4 hours or so. Flying from Canada to the states is insanely expensive....I've been to Gillette Stadium twice, tailgating is top notch, tickets are insane, we paid just under $450 per ticket for endzone tickets this year vs the Jets in week 5. I've been to Jacksonville, didn't tailgate but heard from the guy i was sitting beside that Jacksonville isn't the greatest game experience, and he was right, Jags won and it was pretty boring in there! We want to go to a place that historically has been a great place to visit, we're from Canada so the cold isn't a big deal generally lol, so Green Bay would be an awesome experience, although I've heard that tickets are hard to come by on the cheap. The commish in my league had the opportunity to go to 9/11 home opener between the Giants and Skins at Fed Ex. He got free tickets from OJ Atogwe (played university ball with his brother) and he said the tailgating there was a step ahead of New England...

From what I see, Buffalo or KC are the place to go. What is the weather like in KC in late fall, say mid October to mid November?
