Thanksgiving Day Picks. Loogie style!

Well, I'm happy to back at the Huddle, and in true Loogie style, I want to talk about myself!

 

I also like to be right, but I love when I'm right and people are aware of it, so I decided to pick all 3 games for Thanksgiving.

 

Also, i decided to ruin this entire thread by adding a stupid poll. True Loogie style folks. The newbies wont get it, but the old timers will no doubt feel nostalgia for their beloved and missed Loogie.

 

GB @ DET GB is favored by 6.5.

I think the most important thing to consider in this game, is the fact that it's a divisional game. Last week, in 6 divisional games, the underdogs either flat out won, or did surprisingly well. MIA blewout BUF (while MIA was favored by 2 points, just about everyone considered BUF the better team, and nobody expected a 30 point blowout) , WAS nearly knocked off DAL in overtime, PHI beat NYG with Vince Young at the helm and SEA beat a favored STL team. In fact the only games that went according to plan were SF (no surprise there) and BAL, which still had to overcome a big fat deficit to knock off CIN by 14 in the second half.

Also DET's defense is considerably better than GB. Their DEF line is better, their 3rd down defense is better (GB #21, DET #9). Of course GB is #2 in 3rd down success, and DET is 31st..so there's that.

 

Long story short, divisional games are rarely a breeze for a favored team.

 

I think a straight moneyline bet on DET is worthy of consideration, just on the thoughts that GB SHOULDN'T win them all.

 

tldr: GB 33, DET 30. take DET and the points, but dont be afraid of a moneyline bet.

 

MIA @ DAL. DAL is favored by 7

I think MIA is hot right now. I think DAL is coming off a very tough divisional win, and a short prep week, AND I think the term "TRAP GAME" was invented for a reason. In fact, if DAL was going to MIA, i'd be all over this moneyline bet and I won't be shocked if it happens.

 

But, November is Romo's month. january? Not so much. MIA is only better against the run, and at stopping 3rd down conversions, other than that, DAL has them beat across the board.

 

TLDR: DAL 27 MIA 20. If you put a gun to my head to bet a team, I'm taking Cowboys to cover.

 

SF @ BAL. BAL is favored by 3.

 

The short and sweet of it is SF is going to BAL, and BAL 4-0 against teams with winning records, but loses to teams like SEA and JAX. This will be a great game to watch, and even greater to bet on.

 

SF 20 BAL 17. Take the moneyline. Parlay it too.
