Lisfranc injuries, or at least the sprain varieties, are graded 1-3 - calling it a grade 1 midfoot sprain (partial tear of the ligament) is technically accurate but admittedly not as precise as we would like.

That's not going to get McFadden playing any faster, I realize. I would imagine that in an elite athlete, there is zero advantage to re-stressing the area before it's completely healed. If he completely tears the ligament or fractures something, he's way more hosed than he is now. That assumes the grade 1 call was correct in the first place - could have been hard to tell on the initial MRI if there was a bunch of swelling present.

Probably they're playing the recovery by ear based on how he feels from week to week.

Coach Hue Jackson conceded that since Darren McFadden, out of the Chicago game with a mid-foot sprain, will miss his fourth straight game, it’s going to take awhile to get him up and running once he returns to the practice field.
