2011 Interboard Challenge League (IBL)

The Interboard Challenge League (IBL) is a fantasy football (FF) re-draft PPR league that is the world's largest competition between fantasy football message boards. The competition consists of 8 teams with 12 owners each from the following fantasy football forums:

  1. The Huddle
  2. Fantasy Sharks
  3. FF Cafe
  4. FF Guru
  5. FF Livewire
  6. FF Today
  7. Football Guys
  8. Sports Outlaw

The 8 teams compete in one IBL division with 8 boards and 96 owners participating. Each week, 12 owners play 7 games and their accumulative win-loss records make up the board's overall team record. At the conclusion of the league playoffs, a board and an individual champion will be crowned.

Similar to the International Tennis Federation's (ITF) Davis Cup competition, there is an immense pressure, responsibility and at times an obligation to win for your FF message board. There is no prize money. The competition is about representing your forum, which it is an honor to play for.

In 2010, The Huddle fell short of the IBL team championship and finished as the #3 team; however, The Huddle's own WashingtonD finished as the Individual IBL Champion beating out 95 other owners.

In the summer of 2011, 12 owners banded together to prove once and for all that the world's greatest fantasy players are from The Huddle. After 12 weeks of competition, The Huddle team finished as the regular season board champion with a overall record of 566-442. The Huddle also finished as the regular season individual champion (69-15). The Huddle has been the number one board in the standings since week 4 and currently hold a 30-game lead over the next closest board Football Guys.

Please join me in congratulating these 12 Huddlers for their regular season accomplishments and wish them luck as they begin their playoff run from weeks 13-17 and quest for the Interboard Challenge League Championship. Well done, gentlemen. Well done. Now go out there and finish the job! Do it for gawd, country and The Huddle!

Most intense league I've ever been in. Trading in and out of 8 different drafts was crazy. After failing to submit a lineup in week 1 due to a wrong league link, I thankfully didn't bring down the ship and gutted out the season. I'll be better prepared next year.

Yeah, I gotta give props to ElectricRelish and WashingtonD - both have been DOMINATING all season long. My team got hot late even with my top WR (Miles Austin) being out most of the year. I'm pumped for the playoffs and we have the most top-heavy board of them all.

ElectricRelish didn't outline how the regular season and tiers matter. I've outlined below:

The number of teams in each tier is significant because of the following criteria.

1.Teams in the Champion Tier will receive 3 standings points for a win

2.Teams in the Veteran Tier will receive 2 standings points for a win

3.Teams in the Rookie Tier will receive 1.5 standings point for a win

4.Teams in the Water Boy Tier will receive 1 standings point for a win

Furthermore, The IBL Team Champion will be determined by a combination of regular season and playoff results. For each board, the total standings points accumulated by its 12 teams during the regular season will be added to the total standings points accumulated by its 12 teams during the playoffs.

The board that collects the most total standings points over this 17-week period will be crowned IBL Team Champion.

Wish us luck fellow huddlers, "any given Sunday"!

Years ago I competed in this under the Huddle umbrella. I had a winning record. Later I did so under the FBG's umbrella and also had a winning record. The competition was interesting but the e-mails for offers were oppressive. I found the whole thing very time consuming and I found it frustrating drafting with folks I did not know well as the courtesy and responsibility of some was lacking.

Still an interesting competition. Congrats to those who devoted their time to this.

I also competed several years ago. It was crazy, and I did get some off-the-wall offers. The draft was very frustrating.

That all said, it's awesome that we've been well-represented this year. Congrats to you guys for kicking some major butt!

Yes, the draft is absolutely brutal and can really try your patience, but if you can get pass that, then it's a lot of fun.

Agreed. The draft had me really hating my decision to join but I'm glad I stuck through it. I'd say the majority of owners were on top of it but the dozen or so who weren't paying attention REALLY made it painful.

The Interboard smack talk has begun. IS On Like Ndamnukong (FF Guru) is calling out The Huddlers in Tier 2. Not only that, he's named Brentastic as one of his marks.

Ha ha - I didn't see this post last week. My company xmas party was last Friday, so I wouldn't have been able to listen anyways. Send me a PM for the next one.

Oh, and hopefully he learned a lesson - don't trash talk a winner. I shut him up like Goodell did!
