Lippy225 Posted December 2, 2011 Share Posted December 2, 2011 I drafted Romo and picked up Murray and L. Robinson. I freaking hate the Cowboys...but I love me some winning!!! Man it's been a struggle with all these Cowboys on my team, but they are killing it. Any of you in a situation like this in the past or present? I'm a Niner fan, but that game against against the cowboys, I couldn't help but cheer when Miles Austin went off like he did. I ended up picking Robinson as well and have been riding that gravy train too! As much as I HATE to say it, Romo has been great for me...that left a terrible taste in my mouth. detlef Posted December 2, 2011 Share Posted December 2, 2011 I won't entirely avoid players from teams I don't like (the Cowboys come to mind), but I still hate rooting for the wrong team enough that they'd better come cheaply. My main exception, is that I love having their kicker. Not only has he been a nice FF scorer, but it's fun to root for them to fail in the red zone. And the last few weeks, I've been in can't lose situations at the ends of those games. Either the Cowboys lose, which would be fine with me, or I get another 3 pts. As for the other Cowboys, there is always someone willing to pay more for them than I am, so I'll happily let them have them... I don't think they'd irk me so much if it weren't for the obnoxious fans, the whole "America's team" bit, and the fact that Jerry Jones manages the team like a fantasy team. "O-line? Watching Rivers suck this year has been enjoyable, but I still have Vincent Jackson's schizo performances to deal with. Hopefully this is an "on" week. In 96 or so, when Young was money, Emmit Smith fell to like pick 1.06, the year after he got 20 something TDs. Nobody wanted to be the one to take the Cowboy. Almost puked this year when I drafted Chad 85 (have puked several times since then). I don't understand this idea of not being a fan of your favorite team, or having them be second to your fantasy team. I still want my team to do well, and my fantasy team is secondary. I'd glady miss the playoffs in all my leagues if Dallas could win the big one. NFL Films was looking for a description of Roger Staubach and company. The nickname fit and stuck because of the way they acted on and off the field. Romo and Robinson show with a sidekick name Murray has taken over the fanatsy scene is true. They have propelled me into the playoffs or into playoff contention. I've done pretty well through the years while still avoiding players on teams I don't like. Again, not without exception, but merely insisting they fall to me in drafts before I pull the trigger. Agreed. I've learned to separate the player from the team. As a Steeeler fan, I'm happy to have Ray Rice on my roster -- and would like nothing more than a season where Balt lost every game 17-14 with RR getting 100 and 2 TDs in the loss. Heck, I've made great use of Romo, LRobinson, and Bailey this year - but have no love for Dallas as a result. Think of it as having a chance to date a hottie whose family are jerks.
