As part of a settlement agreement between the NFL Players Association and the NFL, Redskins tight end Fred Davis and offensive tackle Trent Williams have received four-game suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy, multiple league sources said.

The suspensions didn't start with Sunday's game against the visiting Jets because the players had yet to receive written notification from the league, a source said...

 just in time for the fantasy playoffs

I think they announce suspensions after the appeals

Ugh - this was announced after the WW cutoff for one of my leagues. It looks like I will be carrying Fred Davis as dead weight in the FF playoffs now, as there are no pickups after this point. I'd better hope Aaron Hernandez stays healthy.

Me, too. Transaction deadline prior to the start of the first game in week 13.

Anyone know if Williams was having an effective season on the line? Good enough that his absence will have much of an effect on Helu?

AW CRAP! I didn't even think about that! Make it STOP!

In other words, not a happy day, but not worth benching Helu over provided the match-up is reasonable.

Thanks, btw.

Anyone know if Williams was having an effective season on the line? Good enough that his absence will have much of an effect on Helu?

I think Grossman suffers more losing his starting LT than Helu at first glance. But lets dive into Helu's direction runs and see:

During the Jets game, here are the rushing attempts at each guard position:

LE: 2 attempts/11yds

LT: 4 attempts/0 yds

LG: 2 attempts/16yds

ML: 2 attempts/3yds

MR: 4 attempts/20yds

RG: 3 attempts/9yds

RT: 5 attempts/36yds

RE: 1 attempt/5yds

In case you are confused by the above positions, here is how they are recorded. A run to between the C and LG is marked ML. A run between the C and RG is marked MR. Here is a better description:

Bold is the route and RED is the actual position. LE TE LT LT LG LG ML C

Repeat for the right side

Looking at that, seems the Redskins have a better run blocking scheme going to the right.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Trent Williams is the 16th ranked LT with a cumulative rating of +3.8. His Pass blocking is rated at 5.1 while his run blocking is 2.5 (12th overall). But as the run stats above point out, they have more success going to the right.

Any updated confirmation if suspension will commence this week? Would pick-up an active flex from waivers f Davis is indeed done for the season.

Hopefully confirmation comes by the end of the day.

The NFL announced Tuesday that Redskins TE Fred Davis and LT Trent Williams will be suspended for the final four games of the 2011 regular season.

I know this is not the focus of this thread....but as a Skins fan - this is such a sad, sad day. Two of our only possible offensive building blocks have proven they have no respect for themselves or their teammates. F.Davis was in a contract year! We are total mess as a franchise and did not need these two potential leaders letting us down - even if it was months ago.
