the Fantasy Football Gods have a clever sense of humor

So my teams made the playoffs in 3 out of 4 leagues. Good for me. And I just made the finals in one of them yesterday with an easy victory. Good for me again.

But here is the deal in the other two leagues:

In one, I head into Monday Night Football trailing by 3 points. I have Mike Wallace tonight and my opponent has Antonio Brown.

In the other league, I head into MNF ahead by 10 points. Only this time I have Antonio Brown and my opponent has Mike Wallace plus linebacker Navarro Bowman (who should put up anywhere from 8 -12 points).

On the positive side, it's not impossible for me to win both games, especially if Bowman has a quiet night and I'm unlikely to lose both. Also, if one of the Steeler receivers has a big night and the other doesn't, I'll surely make the finals in one of the two leagues and miss the finals in the other.

Too strange.

Playing my most hated rival in my big-money local.

He jumps out to a hugh early lead Saturday with Romo/Austin/Robinson....and chirps loudly. League get together yesterday, and while he started the day sticking it to me with rants and abuse, he starts to quietly watch me claw back into it with some Rodgers, Pierre (started him over Mendy ), AJ Green, Graham, Nicks and Eagles defense (benched Cincy last minute). With the moves paying off, we head into last night with him leading by just 4 points...I have Matthews and Antonio Brown left, he has Rice and Torrey Smith.

With about 2 minutes left after a enormous Matthews night, I am leading by 3 points....he shoots me a somber text, all but conceding defeat, since he thinks he's cooked with the Ravens likely just running into the line after the two-minute warning. Literally on the next play, Smith takes slant pass 36 yards to the house, and now I trail by 6.4 heading into tonight, non-PPR.

Hoping Brown can do enough to get me there....but man, one freaking late Sunday-night garbage-time play took me from a win to the edge of my seat tonight

I've got so many of these stories from playing fantasy football during the past ten years (and I remember ALL of the gory details).

Nowadays, if I'm in a realistic position to win on the last game of the week, I consider it a good week.

+ infinity. Fortunately, I don't remember all the gory details, just some of them. Even this season of overall abject failure has one particularly razor edged loss in it that I'd prefer to forget.

Oh, I see the FF gods' sense of humor.

Getting Brees'd in one league. And running up against Romo & White in another. Funny Oprahing Athena.

I get off to a real bad start, opponent has MJD and Roddy in a PPR league, then Laurent Robinson has an OK game for me at flex, THEN I'm thinking I got this as Brees explodes, and my opponent has Nelson Grant and Finley who put up nothing, and then BAM the seahawks D drops a bomb with 2 def TD's and picks putting up 32 points. Sick to my stomach! I go into tonight down 32 pts with David Akers and Navarro Bowman and opponent has nothing, I'll come up short by a DEF Pick 6! GROSS
