Pollard or Spievey

since I gave Pollard 4-stars then of course that is who I think you should roll with....these aren't published yet but I will give a sneak peek at what I wrote about the secondary for both the Ravens and Lions

Secondary: Overall the Browns aren't a very good matchup for opposing secondaries, however, they do present as a very nice option for the S position. Look for Bernard Pollard to put an end to his three straight 8 point performances against a Browns team that ranks 8th in FPA to the safety position. I rated Pollard a 4-star play, but for some reason I feel like I should have rated him an 8-star play. Lardarius Webb and Cary Williams have been productive at times this year, Webb more so than Williams, but this week both should be on fantasy benches.

Secondary: The Lions secondary has a very strong matchup against a Chargers team that ranks 5th and 6th respectively to the CB and S position this year. Unfortunately, the Lions secondary has been ravaged with injuries, and that makes rating them both difficult and risky. I am not going to be surprised in the least if one of Chris Harris, Amari Spievey or Eric Wright put up 4 or 5-star numbers this week, but I feel much safer rating the three as 3-star plays. If you twisted my arm on who of the three has the big week I would say Spievey. On the injury front Louis Delmas knee injury kept him from practicing on Wednesday, which makes sense because he had an arthroscopic procedure done on his knee this past weekend. However, with regards to the status of Delmas for Saturday, Jim Schwartz has been quoted as saying, "I mean it's to early too tell there, but there's a possibility,", let's just say that I would be shocked, SHOCKED I tell you if Delmas is on the field playing this week.

I am not a big fan either player or match up. Pollard has too many 3 and out potential series and while I am not crazy about Spievey's match up either, this game has more shoot out potential and the Lions front could put enough pressure on Rivers that he won't be able to look off the safeties effectively.

Both are risky plays in my book and could be only a point two apart but I would gamble with Spievey as the one with a higher ceiling. He does have slight knee issue so I would check his practice Friday. Pollard is a shadow of himself when you compare his 2010 numbers. His last 3 games were not very good, one of which was the Browns putting up 3 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 pass defensed if you score those. He did have his only INT in week 14.

Pollard ranks 55th in scoring and Spievey 48th in our league compared to DB's & S so both are hit and miss plays.

Good Luck.

Difference is that Spievey has been a 3-down starter since week 1...Pollard only played in 41 snaps thru the first 3 weeks, since then it has been full time and from week 4 on he ranks 22nd and over that same span of time Spievey ranks 49th

I agree but then again in the last 4 weeks Spievey is averaging about 1.5 more points per contest. I still think it close to a coin flip between two average players.

Hopefully the player chosen goes off big time.
