The Luck Sweepsteaks

Trade the #1 pick??? No matter who ends up with it?? Or draft & then trade? Three teams' management trying to figure out how to make sure they lose this coming week?? Ton of value there. Gotta love it. Pull up a chair and watch the fun.

Not possible for SOS to change enough if the Colts lose to the Jags (I think) but I'm not sure they will.

I could see the Colts easily beating the Jags. The Rams will probably lose out. I have little faith in MN but WAS and CHI could go either way though I expect they'll fold and lose out. Indy could drop to the 3rd pick.

Me too. JAX = Drew, basically. Key on him and they're history. I'm amazed they aren't in the running for the #1 pick.

Don't be so sure the Rams wouldn't take him if they can. Bradford is the injury prone type and (from what I hear) taking steps backward, far from a lock as QB of the future. Ditto Vikes for that matter. Ponder has potential but is a far cry from Luck. Basically you just don't pass on a guy like this. If nothing else they get a boatload from someone willing to trade up which of course would never be the Colts. IMO it'd be the Skins. Just the kind of thing Snyder would do.

Especially interesting as one contender has a legend at QB already and the other two supposedly have their QB of the future.

Viking brass is potentially dumb enough to get the #1 pick and not take Luck because of Ponder which is completey insane. I'll be the first guy to admit that I like Ponder, and I like what I've seen from him this year, and I think if they get him a WR, he has the potential to be our QB of the future. That being said, I sell him for a bag of chips and a Diet Coke if we could draft Andrew Luck.

As long as it was kettle chips and a 20oz bottle then yes I also would trade him... I am also a believer that Ponder has potential but not more than Luck... Kfan was talking this morning thay Washington was high on Ponder last year in the draft... Trade for a pick and let them have Ponder IF we have the chance to have Luck.

So MJD is JAX's only real weapon? That's genius man. I bet nobody has thought of that one.

As opposed to this brilliant response you mean? But hey enjoy marginalizing yourself, it's all the rage here. And thanks for not discussing the actual topic.

Sounds good in theory but they might not get much for Ponder. Still, I'd take my chances if I were them.

Oh, I agree completely. It's even more interesting because of the trade element due to the three contenders having viable QBs already. I don't doubt the Vikes would pick up Luck if the "lucked in" (sorry) but that adds the element of where does Ponder go, if anywhere? Same applies with Bradford and we have already done to death the Manning possibilities.

It's kinda ironic that with this supposedly can't miss prospect coming out this year, none of the teams most desperately in need are in the hunt for him and that's half to two thirds of the league. That sets up even more intriguing pick trade scenarios. I think I'm looking forward to this coming draft more than I have for years.

So pointing out that you say some stupid chit is somehow marginalizing myself? To who? Every team that has played JAX has keyed on stopping MJD, yet he is the 4th highest RB in both non-ppr and ppr rankings.

On topic, There have been very little trades of top picks before the new CBA because the high cost, but it'll be interesting to see what happens in this "new world". I'd have to think that Indy, St. Louis, and Minnesota would all try to shop that pick with their current situations. I mean, Miami's owner has stated that he wants a franchise QB and with Barkley staying at USC maybe they would trade the kitchen sink after seeing the QBs they've started in recent years.

lol...could be two teams tanking next week: the Colts to try to secure Luck, and the Jags to keep him from being in their division for the next 10 years.

+1

If the Jags are smart, they dont want the Clots to end up with the #1 overall pick, IMO. Of course, the Jags might not be very smart. They seem intent on grinding their only good offensive player into dust in games that are lost in a season that is long been lost...

Though (to play Devil's Advocate) I suppose you could argue the Jags may actually want to see Indy get the #1 pick if they believe it will force Indy to essentially choose between Manning and Luck which may cause a major rift in that organization

As far as the Vikings...if they were to somehow land the #1 overall pick, they have to take BPA (or trade the pick) as they have so many holes it is not even funny.
