Delicious_bass
All this talk of tanking is a crock. No-one is going to tank. It will be interesting to see how the game plays out and possibly look at the play calling afterward (particularly if its a close game). No team wants to be accused of tanking, but you know for damn sure they all realize what is at stake. Should be interesting at the very least... stevegrab
Interesting story at NFL.com The myth of tanking This piece is interesting in light of the Tebow success in Denver "No longer is a great defense and a solid running attack enough to win a game. All it does is keep the game close. If a team is unable to make big plays in the passing game, it will struggle to win or at least have to play in games that come down to one possession in the fourth quarter to determine the outcome." All it does is keep the game close. If a team is unable to make big plays in the passing game, it will struggle to win or at least have to play in games that come down to one possession in the fourth quarter to determine the outcome." Assuming for the moment that the writer did not intend for the above statement to be taken completely literally, it is still a pretty bold statement considering how false it is. Insert "key" in place of "big" and I am slightly more inclined to agree but still think its not true. I would also question the following: What a double dose of good news for Colts fans. First, owner Jim Irsay went on NFL Network's Thursday Night Kickoff Show and told host Rich Eisen that if Peyton Manning is healthy, he foresees his star QB staying in Indy. Then, the Colts took the field and won their second game in a row, beating the Texans 19-16 on a final-minute touchdown by Reggie Wayne. For the Colts faithful, which has not seen much good happen this season, Thursday's events were a welcomed Christmas gift. The concept that teams would intentionally try to destroy their season in an effort to get a better pick simply is not realistic. First, "double dose of good news" and "Christmas gift"? Really? Was what Irsay said some hugh news or revelation? Is it even noteworthy? Were people expecting him to come out at this point and say he doesnt think Manning will be the QB? I fail to see how what was said should be read as anything other than organization-speak to conceal its hand and not rock the boat unnecessarily. And does getting win #2 really do that much for a fan base accustomed to seeing its team be amongst the upper eschelon of the league? Sure, winning is more fun than losing, but (at the end of the day) will Colts fans feel better about the season now that they have two wins instead of just one? As far as "intentionally try to destroy their season in an effort to get a better pick" I think we'd all agree no team would sabotage its whole season for a better pick. But, there is a big difference between trying to destroy a season and realizing a season is lost and employing strategy to make the best out of it. Do teams set out to go 0-16, 1-15, 2-14, etc? Certainly not. Do teams that go down the path toward those types of records start to weigh the costs vs benefits of additional wins? I think so. If not outwardly then at least subconsciously. The system is set to reward failure so there will always be a conundrum for the bottom-feeders.
Ursa Majoris
Looks like the Vikings are going to be eliminated. They are up 10 with 4 minutes left.
BeeR
Can't believe Vikes win. I foresee a Colts win over sucky JAX anyway and STL has interesting position atop the draft. Bastages.

Delicious_bass
Looks like the Vikings are going to be eliminated. They are up 10 with 4 minutes left. Aint that just like a MN team? Lose its best player and its QB yet still win a game that in no way helps them in this lost season and may prove to be detrimental to their future. Uncanny the way the teams here have a way of losing when they need to win and winning when its really in their best interest to lose. BeeR
This will pale in comparison to the Colts when they beat JAX. At least you have not 1 but 2 promising QBs already.
