Cowboyz1
What a roller coaster of a Sunday. It started out Jets looking good with a 7-0 lead, thus increasing the Cowboys game relevance just to watch them fall apart and make the game irrelevant. Just when I settled in to watch a meaningless game and hope Romo gets me some fantasy points in a tune up for next week, here comes Babin ruining my day. When Romo went to the locker room I was beside myself. Then to find out he was ok I started to watch the Defense. What I liked was that the D seemed to be playing pretty well right up until 1 minute left in the half when the Eagles got the ball on their own 10. I watched as the entire three man rush just played handsies with the O lineman and let Vick stand in place for 8 seconds until a WR came open. So I said to myself ok they took a play off. But then I watched the next three plays and the same thing. In three plays they were on the 7 of the Cowboys in less then 30 seconds. That is down right inexcusable. I figure if Romo played he would have either been injured further or been able to put up more then 20 points so I guess I don't feel so bad about the loss beings his backup gets Zero reps during practice and looked halfway decent running for his life. I is so obvious how Lee makes all the difference out there for this Defense. If Carter is going to be as good then we will have one heck of a linebacker corps for years to come. What I loved was the play with 30 seconds left in the game. Carter comes through and blocks the punt and Magoo gets them 7. Now they just could have sat back and let the punt happen, catch it and go home. But no they fought to the very end not to get shut out. I love that about this team. They didn't quit. I just wonder where that no quit attitude was just before the half when they seemed to want to get into the locker room and gave up a 90 yard drive for 7. Well, we are in for one heck of a showdown next week. Winner takes the division and a home playoff game, loser goes home and wonders how it all slipped away. For the Cowboys, they can point to 5 games that one play would have them in the playoffs right now. But that's the NFL and this year Cowboys. borge007
Romo and the Cowboys mailed it in.
IanCurtis
Let's be brutally honest, and I'm saying this as a long time (40+ years) Cowboys fan, the Giants are going to destroy them next week. The crap of the last 15 years is all due to one man, Jerry Jones, and his enablers (i.e., the fans who continue to buy over-priced tickets and the DFW media that is afraid to criticize him). caniacwolfpack
In the Championship Game, I started Romo, Shady McCoy, LRob and Babin. Total points = 4. IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! Meanwhile, the guy I'm against started CJ Spiller (as a WR, no less). Pfff... Edited December 25, 2011 by caniacwolfpack

You nailed it. Been saying this here for years! Because of Jones and all his trappings, they are a soft team. I'll take it a step further...Jason Garrett is no Sean Peyton. We have several more years of mediocrity to look forward to with him at the helm. And don't get me started on Rob Ryan. I agree, also, that Dallas is a longshot (at best) to win next week. If they cannot hold a 12 point lead at home in the final five minutes, they won't be able to pull off a win even if they have a late lead. Think, also, about they way Jacobs shredded them on those final drives a couple of weeks ago. If they don't fix that, the game won't even be competitive. I'll watch, of course, but my expectations are realistic. ETA: ...and to Cowboyz1...THIS is why the 'bag' avvy remains in place. whomper
The Eagles Gelled too late . Couple that with the injury to Vick and it made for a frustrating season because truth be told, that team is very dangerous. As far as Dallas and the Giants they are sort of similar teams. Great one week and comically bad the next. Giants seem to win when they have to and Dallas doesnt but I wont count Dallas out next week. They are both inconsistent . Its a matter of who shows up next week and who makes less mistakes. Its nice for both teams to control their own because you have nobody to blame if you dont get in but yourselves

Not really....the Cowboys and Giants are both 8-7. even if the Cowboys had won an extra game, and gone into this week 9-6 instead, Week 17 would still be winner-take-all. Just saying

Just saying True, and this is how it should be. no ifs, ands or help from other teams. Winner goes on loser goes fishing. I was mistaken three weeks ago when I posted it all comes down to Sunday, cause now it really does. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FOR DIVISION CROWN AND A HOME PLAYOFF GAME. Oh how the schedule makers must be pleased.
louisc9999
So true. You have to win some of those close games to be a good team and you cant collapse late. Jets game, Detroit, Giants. Just brutal losses And then you have the two 'ice the kicker' losses in addition to the monumental collapses. I'll NEVER forgive Jerry for letting Jimmy Johnson go after winning two consecutive Super Bowls (and replacing him with Barry 'I'll just put the team into cruise control' Switzer)

That team was sick

It was more like Jerry pushed JJ out the door. Jones must have a coach that is not visible and isn't the media focus. Since Johnson left the team, it has been all Jerry as GM and as the voice of the team. You can go down the list of coaches since JJ including Parcells, and none of them caught the media attention the way Johnson did. Even if a miracle happened and Dallas made it to the Super Bowl, it wouldn't be because of the coach and it wouldn't even be because of the players. It would be because Jerry (in his mind) is the best damn GM in all of sports and a helluva coach too.
