That was a pretty quite 22 sack season if you ask me. Not a lot of hype for Allen at all.

well he did get 3.5 today to get to 22 so I don't think many thought he was too close. I heard more about Babin being at 18 two weeks ago

It sure is a good thing KC didn't spend the money needed to keep Allen around. I mean, we're soooooo good on the defensive line, so that would have obviously been wasted money.

Life is played in the trenches. Have talented big guys around, because they're always going to come in handy.

This guy is as talented as they get. I really don't think he takes himself too seriously, just goes out and plays the game, and brings it on every down. I don't believe I've ever seen him dog it, and he certainly deserves a ton of respect. Owning him for the first time this year, I saw another 5-6 plays minimum that he could have/should have had as sacks as well. Great player.

After 3 DUI's I will never take that guy seriously. However, he is talented.

Purists should consider this the record. Strahan was awesome but what Favre did was a joke

Purists might go back to Deacon Jones. Then again they may not since head slaps are now outlawed and since O-linemen can extend their arms and use their hands. It was a different game back then.

For me, I respect Allen's game, and I suspect I would appreciate him more were he on my favorite team. My all-time favorite was Reggie White because he got alot of his sacks from the tackle position and he was a run stuffer to boot. That, and White always demanded a double team.

Still, I have to give Allen his due. He is one hard worker getting after folks on the field. He never seems to give up on a play.

They could if there had been any stats kept....

Gotta consider that playing on a 3 -14 team didn't help his odds ..... teams could run the ball most of the 4th Qtr.

.

First let me say that i really wanted to see Allen take the sack record from Strahan...

fwiw, 2001 Giants went 9-7 and won the NFCE

the Giants D faced 567 "drop backs" in 2001

the Vikings D faced 588 "drop backs" this year

a drop back is total number of pass attempts (which includes interceptions) + sacks

I am impressed with the stats findings ... and it does prove your point that Allen had more opportunities ... but, I would still contend that playing for a championship team would be a big benefit.

It is really about running a 4/3 scheme and the ability to beat the offensive tackle and in his case multiple double teams. He is an artist. He is the 2nd best DE in football IMO. JPP is the new king at the position but Allen is still a beast and has a good 2-3 years left to be a major fantasy force.

His motor is second to none.
