tazinib1
"There were guys in the huddle not happy with Santonio's demeanor throughout the game and in the two-minute drill," said Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson. "And they said something to him about it." The Jets captain was yanked as his team tried to rally in the fourth quarter Sunday and avoid elimination from the playoff race. To compound the soap opera, coach Rex Ryan said he thought Holmes took himself out. I guess the Steelers knew....pathetic display for a Team C. Trojanmojo
He acted like a punk today. He doesn't deserve that C next year. Give it to Keller.
boltnlava
NY/NJ Drama? NO Way! Reflects on the HC I think. I really don't like the way LT is calling out teammates publicly. He left SD doing the same thing. Sad really. He was a great player. Why go out whining?
CaptainHook
Santonio Holmes is a punk. I saw and interview the other day where he referred to himself as an "NFL superstar". Does he really think that of himself?

He left SD doing the same thing. Sad really. He was a great player. Why go out whining? That's the key right there. He WAS a great player. Some guys just cannot handle it when they are no longer the primary weapon on their team. He still has talent but but running back age has caught up with him. Would have been no problem for him to keep that in the locker room. ETA - Holmes is an a- hole though and definitely not captain material. BeeR
So what was the C? Should've been an L. On his forehead.
Rovers
Putting the C on his helmet was wishful thinking. "Let's see, maybe if we call him a leader, he'll become one." Wrong, Rex.
Seahawk
Who made him a Captain. Here in lies the problem of the Jets. Either way he's a big baby.

Infinity
I love having LT on the Jets. He's a great player, can only help our team and is willing to work hard and play hard. I wouldn't mind throwing away Santonio
Ditkaless Wonders
Santonio has always been more impressed with himself than his play would merit. Give me guys like Welker, or Jordy Nelson. I want hard workers who are good team mates, and who understand that their apparent individual accomplishments are actually an expression of a scheme that takes an entire team to implement. Pittsburgh have based their entire operation around being lunch pail guys and it's an environment where prima donnas are not welcome. Methinks the Steelers letting Holmes walk should have alerted everyone to Holmes' complete lack of character.

tosberg34
a lot of guys clean out their lockers at this time of year, but your post makes it sound like he's been fired. Is that what you meant? If so, link? I was just going to post this. I haven't read any reports anywhere on this other than "the jets players cleaned out their lockers" type articles. I haven't read any reports anywhere on this other than "the jets players cleaned out their lockers" type articles. He was escorted out of the building by a NYJ PR guy, was not allowed to speak to the media, it was on NFL Total access which is live and on all day during Black Monday. RC94
I was just going to post this. I haven't read any reports anywhere on this other than "the jets players cleaned out their lockers" type articles. I thought it was an odd thing to say so I looked at the local papers and this is all I could find: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/jetsblog/jet...H5Rnb7mgUTuHFbM Here is the sentence mentioning Holmes walking out: Wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who was benched at the end of Sunday's game, entered the locker room, grabbed some things from his locker, and was escorted out by a PR staffer without speaking to reporters. CowboyGal2011
Here, let me google that for you: http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/redsk...YTWP_story.html It was also reported he skipped at least one WR meeting, didn't care, was considered a locker room cancer and acted like a petulant child. CowboyGal2011
IF you're trying to say something specific, please clarify. I am speaking clear English, telling you what was reported. YOU can read anything you want into it.
tazinib1
Holmes is guaranteed $7.5 million in 2012, I believe. But his gaurantee climbs to $11million if he's on the roster the 2nd official day of the 2012 season. I'm thinking they get rid of his ass. I saw that kid Turley??? and he's gonna be a gamer. Czarina
I watched the link at nfl.com which suggested that several players were less than friendly to the media (hello, Bart Scott), that Santonio Holmes was escorted off the premises by NYJ staff and that there were some coaches "in tears." LT is apparently happy to speak with anyone who cares to ask him, but then he pretty much said he was likely to retire after the season. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fellas.
