He really seemed to be around the ball a lot at the end of the year so I picked him up in hopes of finding a cheap LB for next year. What do you guys think of him?
I took the same risk on Jonathan Casillas for this year and that didn't go so great, but I am hoping that maybe he will pan out next year as I still have two years left on his contract. Any thoughts on him as well?
Looking ahead to 2012

My take is he is not big or athletic enough to be a 3-down player long term. He plays hard and has good instinct but not a player I would roster.
The Panthers had a lot of injuries this year and the weak side position in their scheme demands an athletic player. I was surprised he played as well as he did down the stretch but could see them drafting a more athletic player that will force him back to the bench.
He is worthy of an NFL roster due to depth and special teams but slow small players with limited athleticism are not really impact players at the NFL level. His instinct does make up for some deficiencies but in the end they are easily replaceable. Even if he starts next year he will/should be on the bench in pass situation as he simply lacks the speed needed to effectively cover.
I guess he is worth a flier but not a player I would count on going forward.
As far as Saints LB's. I avoid them. The MLB is for the Saints is roster worthy but Casillas is a FA quality LB with little hope of even starting in this league. Eject.
Probably not what you wanted to hear but that is my take.
