Today begins the slow demise of the once-proud Allen (Texas) Wranglers. You guys who are fans of this storied franchise, you're in my thoughts and prayers. This guy is a cancer in the locker room and the boardroom, everyone knows it.

Wow how the once mighty have fallen. I guess anything to keep his name in the press. Why doesn't he see if Kim Kardashian is looking for another husband, then he could be on TV reality shows (more).

$500,000 for a season? Most players in the IFL only make $225 per game, plus a bonus for winning. I guess they figure that their games will draw lots of attention now, since the mighty TO is on their roster.

He's 38 and a future hall of famer, so this move seems kind of beneath a player of his stature. I'm referring to his on-field accomplishments only, obviously -- this is not at all unexpected given his personality.

I guess it's a nice payday, but still, it feels kind of pathetic that he's opting to play for some third-rate indoor sideshow crap instead of just retiring with grace and getting on with the next chapter in his life.

Nothing is beneath you when you find yourself broke & nobody in the only profession you know will touch you with a 10' pole.

He's broke?!?! Jeebus what a jackass. Hardly a surprise, these guys spend money like they'll be playing for 40 years.

Just to clarify, that is not a stated fact. I'm just saying I can't imagine any other reason why he would do it.

Oh I can, he's an attention whore and a narcissist, and has zero self-awareness. His numbers make him a first-ballot hall of famer, yet he's this tragic, clown-like figure, a punch line.

Just read a story on Fox about this and it referred to T.O. as "cash-strapped", so looks like you're right about that. Sad.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/terrell-owens-cut-allen-wranglers-no-longer-tolerated-235600779--nfl.html

Terrell Owens has worn out his welcome in Texas again. The Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League have cut Owens--as both a player and as an owner.

In a statement released by the team on May 29, the Wranglers said that Owens made it clear to them that he had no intention of participating in two upcoming road games in Nebraska and Everett that are important to the team's playoff hopes. But the tipping point was when he failed to appear for a team function at a local children's hospital.

"It is difficult to look other players on this team in the eyes and tell them that being a team player is important...that giving it your all on the field every night is our expectation, when another member of this team is not operating by these standards," said Wranglers president and co-owner Tony Benizio in the statement.

"The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back for Mr. Owens was his no-show to a scheduled appearance at a local children's hospital with other Wrangler players and coaches. It is not the desire of the Allen Wranglers' organization to disappoint fans by having our most notable player miss a scheduled appearance."

"Our fans are amongst the best in the league, and it is impossible to maintain a player when even our fans notice and comment on a player's lack of effort both on and off the field," added team owner John Frankel through the Wranglers' website. "We need to do what is best for this team, our fans and this community."

Owens, 38, announced in January that he was joining the Wranglers as both a player and as a part-owner in a deal worth up to $500,000. It was widely speculated that Owens was hoping that NFL teams would see that he has turned a new leaf and continue contributing at a professional level.

His tenure with the Wranglers, however, has instead ended the same way his tenure ended with the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia Eagles--with Owens alienating his employer.

Owens also played for the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals while still in the NFL.

"It's disappointing and unfortunate," Frankel told Tim McMahon of ESPNDallas.com. "But (he) could no longer be tolerated by the Wrangler organization."

What a fool, most knew it would end horribly in some fashion.

How does one get fired as an owner? I'm guessing his ownership agreement had some sort of "don't be a dick" clause. Smart move by team management.

Next stop http://www.usftl.com/

I think I remember reading he blew off a couple/few appearances...including a Children's Hospital or something like that...and think there was something about not practicing or going into a game(s).

can you say "dumbazz"?

racist.

Owens is a mature classy guy, fine human being, he's proven it time and again. Course he's no Ray Lewis or Mikey Vick, but who is?

GB the NFL. These poor guys wouldn't be zillionaires if not for them.
