piratesownninjas
Now to tag Flynn or Wells... Regardless, find a way to keep Wells.
piratesownninjas
2 years, 15 million. 7.5 million a year type players know how to catch the damn ball. Hopefully he figures it out.
half_hennessy
I was going to say a 2 year deal is pretty ridiculous for him to accept but for that money i can see why he took it

He'll be 27 when this contract runs out.
Ditkaless Wonders
Maybe a little more than it would have cost to franchise him this year and next, so not a bad deal for Finley. The packers, in my estimation, overpaid a little for a guy with dropsies, but they did save their franchise tag for negotiations going forward with Wells, or even with others. Frankly though, with the costs of O-lineman the franchise tag would be more than Wells is worth for market value, but using it on him would keep the packers from long term obligations. Â In the end I think that TT has just put things off temporarily. He may soon be faced with Negotiations on Rodgers, Jennings, Finley, and Matthews all in a short window. Â I guess I'm happy, but only barely.

I guess we're forgetting what it was like after Winters and before Wells. Wells is a pro bowl center, and losing him will create a massive hole in the line. We're already looking at Newhouse at one of the tackle spots. Not sure GB can sit back and try and find a replacement.

I am just saying that relative to the tag price for O-linemen he is not worth that pay for a yearly average. That is not so much a reflection on Wells as it is a reflection of the tag amount for linemen. This year we see a real shift with R.B.'s being a bargain at the franchise price, and with linemen being a pricey franchise tag. Â In addition to being undersized, Wells will have to test a market with competition. There are a lot of guys out there, or at least it looks like there may be. My hope is that the two sides can work things out. Wells has added value to the Packers over replacing him with a stranger to the system and to Rodgers. Â BTW, much as I loved that bag of donuts I don't see the time since him as a center wasteland. Mike Flanagan was pretty good. Bronco Billy
I agree that the price may be a little much for a guy who is as inconsistent catching the ball as Finley - but dig a little deeper. The guy is a player who is so talented at his position that the D has to adjust for him or suffer badly in a mismatch. That opens other parts of the passing game and creates mismatches elsewhere, usually on the outside edges of the field. Finley's value far exceeds only his direct contribution to the offense. Giving Rodgers those mismatches somewhere on the field because of the respect Finley commands is well worth paying that price. Ed Hoyle
Too much money for a guy with hands of stone. When he catches the ball...he is that good....but very inconsistent. They should have loaded it with incentives.
HAUG
Finley is the most hyped up overrated TE...I don't own him in any leagues. I don't understand the love fest with this guy.
