Per Adam Schefter

Tampa Bay reached agreement with former Saints guard Carl Nicks on a five-year, $47.5 million deal including $31 million guaranteed.

:shocking:

Yeah, no way the Saints get anywhere close to that. Not bad for the "2nd best G in FA." Looks like the Saints will try to replace him with Grubbs from the Ravens.

Saints have already picked his replacement signing former Ravens G Ben Grubbs to a 5-year deal, $36 million, $10 million signing bonus. Not a bad consolation.

The Bucs Oline is going to be nasty this year. Hopefully they either draft a speed RB or Blount learns how to run through holes instead of into linebackers...

2 Million less per year. I'd say that is a smart move in the free agency era, unless Nicks was and is a guy that makes others around him much better. Brees will have to adjust to seeing a new ass when he approaches the line, and he will have to learn to anticipate and trust the direction of a new guard. For a guy like Brees, who steps up in the pocket it is important to be able to anticipate which way the guard is going to take his opponent when things start breaking down.

Good decision in my estimation.

I'll take a RB who can manage 4.6 ypc running into LBs any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Imagine if he has a line that can block some of those LBs...

Agreed but the other issue is he can't block or catch which makes him a 2 down back.

He's still damned useful and allows TB to look for a compliment rather than a bell cow RB. I also think he's a better reciever than he was allowed to be under Morris, but that remains to be seen. His blocking - you'd know much better than I.
