montster
http://rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4965/peyton-hillis Chiefs signed RB Peyton Hillis, formerly of the Browns, to a one-year, $3 million deal. It's likely Hillis turned down more money from the Browns more than once last season. The signing reunites Hillis with OC Brian Daboll, who oversaw his breakout 2010 campaign. It also provides the Chiefs with an excellent insurance policy on rehabbing feature back Jamaal Charles (torn ACL), and a massive upgrade on short-yardage runners Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle. Although Hillis' presence makes it unlikely Charles will be in for a repeat of his 1,467-yard 2010 campaign, it restores the "thunder and lightning" dynamic Kansas City expertly exploited between Charles and Jones in 2010. That is, provided Hillis stays healthy after being limited to 10 games by a variety of ailments last season. This is going to drop Jamaal Charles in all formats, and Hillis was massive two years ago. This deserves it's own thread.

Wpob
As a new J.Charles owner, I'm not liking this. God damnit. Amen brother. I traded for him in my dynasty league last year after he got hurt figuring he would be my #1A to Ray Rice. Stupid Hillis. My hope now is that they let Hillis do all short yardage (5-8 carries) and give Charles the rest. my enthusiam dies a little with this signing. None of the beat reporters from Cleveland or Houston have anything on it, so I'm thinking that's all it is... A rumor. And I'm negotiating a trade for Tate... This will surely make things more difficult.

This has major time share written all over it. Both players get downgraded a lot in my book.
bushwacked
Meh...I was of the feeling that Hillis was a 1-year wonder before this last season, if for nothing else that he was a battering ram with limited longevity. Now his value is a 3 million dollar compliment/insurance policy to a RB coming off a torn ACL. I could see Hillis being a TD vulture more than anything, but Charles's talent is on a different level than Hillis.

Somebody mentioned time share? Hardly, but Charles won't be the top 5 back I was hoping for. Of course, this is all speculation and I could surprisingly be wrong. Hardly, but Charles won't be the top 5 back I was hoping for. Of course, this is all speculation and I could surprisingly be wrong. I thought Charles was already a top 5 back when he was in a 50/50 timeshare with Thomas Jones in 2010. My initial gut feeling is this is a lot closer to 66/33 if Hillis's nagging injury setbacks last year were an anomaly.
Crazysight
This could actually be a 1/2 decent situation for Hillis considering the success that power backs in KC's run oriented offense has had in the past (albeit they've lost some key pieces to their offensive line since the Larry Johnson days, notably sam shields), and that Charles athleticism likely won't be back to 100% by the start of the season. stevegrab
Well as a Browns fan I have mixed feelings. On one hand it means another hole to fill, on the other hand it tells me that nobody else in the NFL sees Hillis as a starting RB. He was signed as a backup/compliment to Charles. Maybe some insurance in case Charles isn't quite back to normal. I suspect the Browns either trade for somebody (Tate is an interesting option) or draft Richardson (although Blackmon seems more likely). fpuma
As a browns homer I like the idea of Tate. However i just read that houston is saying they are not interested in trading Tate. Per Rotoworld: The Texans are not considering trading Ben Tate to the Browns, according to beat writer John McClain. This rumor started gaining steam when the Browns refused to comment on it. The truth is that the Texans could never get equal value for Tate, even though he'll continue to back up Arian Foster. The 2010 second-round pick averaged 5.4 yards-per-carry last season, racking up 942 yards on just 175 carries.
