For some strange reason, I have a hard time being outraged by, yet another, dude in his 20s with more money than he knows what to do with, buying a bag of Josh Gordon.

Agreed, but what drives me crazy about things like this, is that when you're worth that much money and have that much to lose, have someone else hold onto or deliver it or whatever.... I know this isn't the same degree as player DUIs, but it's the same in that you're taking an unnecessary risk, when you have all the means not to.

Further, this article says that police got reports of Fairley's car speeding around a neighborhood, and he was driving on a suspended license, so to me it's more a matter of having such a careless attitude about your golden opportunity.

Truth. These guys have all these hangers on so I just don't see how they can't put one of them in charge of this stuff.

I am a staunch supporter of legalizing pot despite never having tried it - not even one puff. That said, until it is legal and it is off the banned substance list in the NFL, the guys are morons to take the risk of using it.

However, if I were forced to work in DET, I'd probably be sparking up spliffs regularly.

Lions Nick Fairley busted again on DUI in Alabama

Allen Park- Nick Fairley maybe shouldn't go home for a while; seems like every time he goes back to Mobile, Ala., he gets arrested.

Television station Fox10 in Mobile reported Sunday that Fairley was arrested around 1 a.m. for driving under the influence and attempting to elude police.

"We are aware of the reports and are in the process of gathering more information," said Lions director of media relations Bill Keenist.

According to the report, Alabama state police also ticketed Fairley for reckless driving, no proof of insurance and having an open container.

Fairley posted $1,750 bond and was released around 9 a.m.

Fairley is facing a July 31 court date in Mobile for a Josh Gordon-possession charge on April 3

The amount of money he's making has nothing to do with buying a bag of Josh Gordon. Anyone can afford Josh Gordon. I'm not outraged as it doesn't effect my team, but I do think it's asinine to be given the ability and opportunity to play in the NFL and he's making bad decisions.

And I'm sure the fact that virtually every transgression he had through his formative years was swept under the rug so his coach could keep his best players on the field and, thus, get paid as much as possible, has nothing to do with the fact that dude figured he could get away with smoking pot?

But, mostly, my point is this. Pot is illegal for no good reason other than the fact that it's been needlessly singled out by the powers that be. So, when you consider the general lawless behavior that permeates high level sports, I'll save my outrage for things that I believe are truly violent or harmful acts.

I suspect that before Spinks, no cared and/or at least let them party a little... going back to the secrecy by the media for Babe Ruth. What the heck is wrong with living it up?

That said, if you're wealthy, hire a fookin' driver. Partying it good, DUI is dumb. Heck, plenty of people who aren't wealthy take a taxi.

I'm guessing his point is that it's dumb to get caught with barely enough coke to do a bump. It's enough to get you busted, but not enough to get you high. Seems like a pretty bad risk/reward ratio.

Your guess is correct.

It did not occur to me that the point was not obvious. That is probably a reflection of my past and not a negative reflection on others.

Then today I read this in Huddle Player news

Charles Rodgers - WR - retired A judge has ordered the arrest of former Detroit Lions WR Charles Rogers after he failed to appear at a court hearing in Michigan. Rogers is charged with making a malicious phone call and conspiring to commit a crime, possessing Josh Gordon, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license. Huddle Up: Rogers wanted to prove to Mikel Leshoure and Nick Fairley that when it comes to getting arrested, he's the Lion King.

What a maroon, how stupid are these guys not to show up for a court hearing? I know they'll blame it on their attorney, handler or other person responsible for everything bad thta happens in their lives.
