stevegrab
Its a head scratcher for sure. You can try to justify it with "both TEs will start (or play a lot)." But for a team with a defense that was that bad, they didn't seem willing to do much in the draft to improve it.
SEC=UGA
The Colts are one healthy Manning away from competing...
Cunning Runt
They need starters at a lot of positions. Therefore drafting a backup that early in the draft doesnt make sense. Fleener was drafted as the starter. Just like the Redskins drafting cousins in the 4th after RG3 was head scratching, so was this. Drafting Cousins was head scratching? Interesting. The talking heads on Sirius were saying that Washington HAD to come out of the draft with two QBs. And by getting Cousins they got a guy who has starter potential to go along with their franchise QB. I thought it was a solid pick. And as far as Indy's 2nd TE, as a Colts' fan, I don't have a problem with it at all. Gotta give the new QB some toys to play with. I think the defense will be better if for no other reason than their new head coach and defensive coordinator.

godtomsatan
But once you secure the best TE in the draft, that position is not really a need. Unless you have ideas of utilizing two TE sets in an offense run by Andrew Luck.

MustOfBeenDrunk
In my main Dynasty my team is very solid except at TE We have a 3 round rookie draft and I'm up @ 1.06 and had planned on taking Fleenerbut now that they grabbed a 2nd TE I'm starting to get cold feet on that pick

Luck to Fleener will happen a lot, same way it has already happened a lot.

Seems like you could get Fleener a bit later in the 1st round than 1.06, no?
BeeR
I don't know why y'all can't get what detlef is saying. Likely they plan on using 2 TEs sets a lot, which kinda makes sense when you have 2 (presumably) very good TEs and are kinda thin at WR to boot. Plus Luck did this in college which doesn't hurt. They are building them team around him after all. No one is saying they are "comparable to NE in talent" just because they may use a similar strat; no idea how you came up w/ that. As for not drafting D, the value wasn't there to be had, and as stated, it's not like they're going to the SB this year anyway. They can draft the hell out of D next year and/or pick up a FA or two maybe. You can only do so much at once. My biggest concern with Allen is I'm hearing that he often has an attitude problem. That is THE very last kind of player I'd want them to draft, I don't care how freaking talented they are. And that's one thing I give Polian a lot of credit for adhering to as well. And it might have been coincidence or something else altogether, but when they picked him and they showed him on the phone he didn't look too happy about it.
