The testing showed '"moderately advanced" case of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease associated with repeated blows to the head." No one can explain why Seau shot himself, but the idea that he mentally fell apart as a result (maybe in large part) of concussions and repeated brain trauma is really scary. That was my very first thought as well. I think it was a real mistake letting out the knowledge that CTE could only be tested for after death.
