keggerz
Football is More Than Tackles, Touchdowns & Stats Not a fantasy article but hope you guys enjoy it anyway....far to often we only hear about the bad stuff that players do and not the good stuff. This past week I spent some time at the 19th Annual William & Mary Football Camp, where Larry Fitzgerald, Tim Tebow and Victor Cruz were guest instructors. I have about 10:30 of the raw footage from the media Q&A with Tebow that I am uploading to youtube (taking forever), and as soon as the upload is complete (saying 603 MINUTES left) I will add a link to it. Figured some might find it interesting since it hasn't been blasted all over ESPN. Oh and can you believe it isn't an IDP article, crazy I know. keggerz
That had to be a lot of fun. It was, and fwiw, Larry Fitzgerald does NOT play fantasy football (was the last thing I asked him before he had to leave).... In the article I reference what Fitzgerald had to say about having more catches/yards than Rice by the age of 29...I was the one that asked that question...so I later posted those stats on twitter, I just found them pretty interesting and figured that many others would be shocked by them....anyway, Fitz responded to the tweet and a few tweets went back and forth between us about it: Here they are: ========================= Larry Fitzgerald tweeted: @IDPSteve Its a interesting footnote but he had 2 rings already in 88,89 going into his 9th year & a 3rd in his 10th year I have a ways 2 go ========================= I tweeted: @LarryFitzgerald As you said guys "Play for the rings" but not having 1 doesn't diminish accomplishments. But I understand what you mean ========================= Larry Fitzgerald tweeted: @IDPSteve yes it does you are never viewed the same if you don't have hardware. ========================= I tweeted: @LarryFitzgerald I think the hardware adds to the allure, greatness is greatness & I know it when I see it. ======================== kpholmes tweeted: @LarryFitzgerald @idpsteve It's sad, but true - Marino will never be in the top QB discussion for that reason alone. Despite great stats. ======================== I tweeted: @kpholmes @LarryFitzgerald Peyton has a ring now but he clearly was in the convo as best QB ever before he won one. ======================== Larry Fitzgerald tweeted @IDPSteve hardware means everything Kelly never gets compared 2 Aikman b/c he won 3 rings. Look @ there records & numbers and get back 2 me. ======================== I tweeted: @LarryFitzgerald I've never heard Aikman in discussion 4 best ever. Not trying 2 diminish value of ring, just don't think it defines career =================== and of course you know what you tweeted: @IDPSteve Rings are about teams and not individual players. They are the goal of every player but not the defining measurement of a career. ==================== yeah, it was a fun experience all around.
