So Forte just signed with the Bears. Will Forte or Bush to be the bell cow in Chicago? Will there even be a bell cow?

I feel that if Forte can handle the load, it's his job just as it was DMC's when he was healthy. Bush was/is a great insurance policy and somebody who can spell Forte and take on some punishment. Forte is a monster when healthy and really shouldn't come off the field unless he needs a breather.

Forte wont get many of the goal line carries but those are not where his fantasy value has come from. His value is in his workload, his yards, and his breakaway td's. I was on the fence about drafting him if I get stuck late in the 1st round but I'm a little more comfortable with that idea now.

Bush for sure will get the goal line carries, and will probably get way more carries than Marion Barber did.

Meh, rushing TDs have never been Forte's strength anyway... Since his breakout rookie season where he had 8 on the ground, since then he's turned in 4, 6, and 3 the last few years (and one of the 3 last year was a long one in the Falcons game, which of course are the TDs that Bush won't take away, as should be receiving TDs).

With around 1,000 yards every year and around 50 catches for another 500, Forte should remain a big centerpiece of the offense. Yes, the new recievers and Bush might limit his ceiling, but I just don't see it affecting his ultra-high floor. Now that the Bears have ponied up the money, expect them to continue to lean on Forte as the most reliable piece in this offense.

Beat me to it. You look at Forte much like you did Rice when McGahee was the goal-line vulture. It limits his ceiling, not his extremely high floor.

I'm glad both sides got a deal done. The Chicago Tribune reports 18M of the 4 year 32M contract is guaranteed. The final deal seems exactly what I thought a "fair" offer would be, only to be berated by Bronco Billy as a dumb Bears fan with the math/reading comprehension skills of a sixth grader (Sorry, I didn't post our exchange but I do have the computer skills of a sixth grader and I couldn't figure out the multiple link option )

Sorry to leap in here.... but if you couldn't figure out the multiple link option then you have the computer skills of a 1st grader. 6th graders have long ago learned that skill.

I know, it's pretty sad. But on the bright side, I just located an old thread explaining how it's done! So, while I may be a moron, I'm a moron willing to learn!

Open both replies in two different windows, copy-paste one into the other.

Or is there an easier way?

Hit the "+ Quote button on each quote you want to use, then hit + Add Reply and all will show up then add your reply box.

BTW, embedded quotes are not enabled.

Ignoring the trolls is the only real way to win that game. Unfortunately there just haven't been enough people around lately to dilute the waters. It'll be nice when the season starts.

I'll hand it to you WL, you got it right on target after you retracted your original position and changed to the Lynch < Forte < Foster numbers. It was certainly way better than my defense of Forte asking for $8.5 per year as being reasonable.

On top of that you got to continue to play the wronged victim and remain the champion of being butthurt here at the Huddle. I'd call that an all around win for you that showed how incredibly wrong I was. I'd link to the Forte has bad knees? Thread page 3 and beyond if I weren't on my cell so that you could thoroughly relive your glory. Sorry about that, but congrats.

Give a man some fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Ahh, the old back handed compliment, that's kind of your thing isn't it? I'm pretty sure I always said Forte deserved more then 17M and less then 20M gaurunteed so I don't understand where you're going there? On a lighter note, I do like the "champion of butt hurt" moniker....do you mind if I keep it?

I caught heat from others as well, for saying he should be looking at a Michael Turner sized contract, not a DW contract.

Now I have to go find what seahawks21 thought he would do and bet him on it - something about rushing for 2500 yards on 500 carries or something like that...

And anyone see the irony in the butt hurt comment?

The Chicago Tribune is reporting more details on the trade. The contract is 4 years for 31.5M with 17.1M gauranteed. The base value of the contract is 28.1M and Forte will have to hit roster bonuses based on games dressed to receive the full 31.5M. According to the Tribune "[t]he 'strong offer' team President Ted Phillips referred to back in March apparently was the $17.1 million guaranteed figure, and a source said the Bears never budged thereafter." As a Bears fan I'm glad they got the deal done but I'm also glad they didn't over pay. PS: BB,despite my 6th grade math/reading comprehension skills, it looks like my reporting of the Bears "rumored" March 2012 offer wasn't that far off.

signed - Champion of butt hurt

Are you expecting canonization? You screwed up initially and then relied on information that you didn't have, but made a good guess in the end - albeit one that was exactly 1/2M per year less than money you stated he didn't deserve. I'll give you props for that. But the self adoration and the whining about getting picked on? That ain't gonna get you sainthood here, my friend. Pictures of your wife's and/or girlfriend's cans? Now you might get yourself in the hunt.
