Just came from an mock done for USA Today's sports Weekly. Had a good crew of drafters from the various sites and it went off really well - hardly any picks I would consider bad.

First three rounds - Who is too high or too low? I thought this was pretty good throughout. I picked #2 and Tuvey went #6

- For first three rounds, Calvin and Rodgers are too high, no way you pick either over McCoy when RB is so thin.

- If this is PPR Sproles is way too low, steven jackson ahead of him is just crazy IMO

- Steve Smith over Roddy White is also weird IMO, White is just so consistent

- Again, if ppr Wallace ahead of Welker seems off

Non-PPR scoring.

As for White over Smith, I actually almost took Julio Jones in that spot. Ultimately I opted for The Huddle's poster boy for consistency--yes, even over White. White has Jones ready to take looks; Smith has no one threatening his WR1 stats.

Agree on Trent Richardson. On the one hand, Huddle rankings tells me he's a potential stud. On the other hand, DMD's rookie RB article warns me these guys are on a historical downturn and should be considered RB3 with RB2 upside.

Which DMD do I believe??

I still can't believe folks are drafting Trent Richardson before MJD and McFadden

Why? If Peyton Hillis can put up RB1 numbers with pretty much the same team, why can't a more talented Richardson?

That was 2 years ago and it is not the same team. WR1 is a 2nd year player. WR2 will be a rookie. There will be a rookie at RT. There will be a Rookie in the slot. A Rookie FB. Probably a 2nd yr TE who played very little last year. And a rookie QB

Take Richardson at 8...be my guest.

Can't believe Mike Wallace went so high considering the emergence of those other two Wr's in Pitt. A. Johnson fell farther than I thought. 8th WR? Wow. Guess health concerns are in play there. Thought Fred Jackson might go a bit higher as well.

Richardson's stock is as high as I've seen it. He is consistently a first round pick in mocks that I've been in. I remember when Ryan Mathews was the hot rookie RB that shot up draft boards. That didn't work out too well. I think ever since Adrian Peterson's ridiculous rookie season, people are too high on these rookie RBs generally. I got Peterson at 3.01 his rookie year. I think Mathews went 1.10 in the same league when Mathews was a rookie. I expect Richardson to sneak into the top 10 as long as the preseason doesn't lower his stock.

In general, I find it hard to get excited about anyone in Cleveland for fantasy purposes. To me, Richardson's upside is maybe SJax territory, meaning he's probably more of an end of round 2, beginning of round 3 value.

Andre Johnson feels like a steal this year so far in mocks. Sure, he's an injury risk, but I'll take that risk in the 3rd round all day long. Dude is an absolute stud.

I love taking rookie RBs... when the price is right. 1.08 is not the right price. Hey looks great, but he's also on a team that looks like it may not be spending a whole lot of time on the other side of the 50 this year. 1 TD = 60 yards. Just sayin'.

I left it to you Browns homers to know better about the O-line in the rookie RB's thread, but can you really say that the supporting cast as a whole is any worse than the offense that boasted rookie Colt McCoy, Massaquoi, Cribbs (who had less than 350 yards) and Watson?

The difference I see here is that this offense has a ton more upside, and I'm not sure how I could see them be any worse than they were outside of Hillis in 2010.

I can and I do. Upside is a far cry from actual stats. Upside is not what you want in your 1.08 pick. Proven history is what you'd hopefully like to take there. Why take him over McFadden?

I'm not necessarily arguing for him to be in top 8 (I need to see more, probably a strong preseason showing before I come anywhere close to that), or that the team will live up to their upside, but rather saying that I don't really see how this will be a weaker supporting cast around him.

I'm not sure I'd draft him over McFadden, but it isn't like McFadden doesn't come with significant risk himself, when he always seems to get injured when you need him most (like the FF playoffs last year).

Really the risk that pretty much all the backs outside of the top 3 is what has Richardson vaulting up my board (since I'm not sure I see any more risk or concerns with him than any other RBs). Of course it also doesn't hurt that I think this kid is the real deal...

pretty much, there is so much risk with all the RB's that outside the top three and then maybe Mathews/CJ2K, Richardson has just as much risk as anyone else.

Now that he has gotten paid, I'd say Forte isn't much of a risk, especially in PPR leagues. And assuming he reports to camp, I don't think MJD has a ton of risk either. But yeah, I guess beyond those guys, things get muddy quickly. Still, I agree with the comment that you don't want upside with your first round pick as much as you want a sure thing / proven production. It's a huge leap of faith to take Richardson in the first round knowing the Browns will likely be trotting a rookie QB out there and no proven weapons in the passing game.

I'm a pretty big fan of going with RBs early, but that's because you want to do what you can to get a good one. You can't magically make one good just because you took him early. If the run is over, it's over. With that in mind, you need to look elsewhere once the guys with proven track records or at least are in a position to succeed are off the board. At least until similar guys at other important positions are off the board as well. Then, it's back to RBs, because I still think it's a position that deserves priority over others, all things being equal.

With guys like Gronk and Graham now bonafide top 10-12 picks in addition to the usual suspects at WR and QB who you can pencil in for big weeks nearly every week, I just can't get down with taking a rookie RB on a team that's been decent exactly one year in as long as I can remember.

Not a knock on him, but I think there is a 3% chance of that happening. The Red Rifle can't produce those kind of numbers from a WR.

Not having a gunslinger QB hasn't stopped guys like Fitzgerald, Megatron (before 2011) and Dwayne Bowe (2010) from putting up sick numbers though. While I don't see AJ being the #1 WR yet, I could see him putting up 75/1200/12 pretty easily

Also troubled by T. Richardson at 1.08 and leary of Mathews at 1.06. I know I am going to hate to say at least one of my RBs names out loud at the draft this year. They are always hard to come by, but this year just seems to be a disaster.

Kind of off topic, but I don't see a section in the Huddle Draft Kit which points to a list of Mock Drafts. Are they stashed somehere else?

That is weird cause there usually is a section for mock drafts in the kit. I guess maybe they took it down to update it, but you'd have to ask a moderator cause it's usually in there.

We will be publishing some real drafts, but for mocks we have installed a MFL tool which not only gives you the average draft however you want to cut it up but it also lets you look at actual drafts as they are occuring. Mock drafts have inherent problems with how people approach them just to try out different things instead of drafting for real. The MFL tool allows you to see actual drafts happening in whatever size league and scoring system you want.

It is like accessing hundreds of mocks only better.
