A source tells Profootballtalk.com that Jason Witten (spleen) will miss at least the rest of the preseason.

During Monday night's preseason opener, Witten took a wicked shot from Raiders MLB Rolando McClain. Per PFT, he sustained a serious spleen injury that resulted in internal bleeding. Surgery is not expected to be required, but hasn't been ruled out. Although the ultra-tough Witten hasn't missed a game since 2003, he's not a lock to be ready for Week 1 this year. The Cowboys open up against the Giants on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

I didn't see that particular hit but I've seen Witten takes abusive hits over the years and he got up each time with no issues. This one must have been fierece or hit at the perfect spot to cause this.

Hope he recovers, I really like how Witten plays.

I did'nt see the hit eitherbut saw an interview on the sideline later in the game....seemed fine..

Big difference between a rupture and a laceration.

I'd also like to add that Chris Simms lack of talent ended Chris Simms career.

This. He bounced around for 3-4 more years on rosters and played in some games. He might not have been "the same" after the injury, but same didn't = very good anyway.
