Average temperature was 95 with about 80% humidity Cigarettes are $32 a carton Gas is over a dollar cheaper than California It's very hot and Humid The girls were amazingly friendly to the crew members Graceland is smack in the middle of "the hood" and was a big disappointment The Grand Ole Opry was pretty damned cool even though I'm not a country music fan Spiders are freak'n HUGH there Poison Ivy sucks The sunsets are blood red and amazing Lightning storms are breath taking No tornado scares I love California and I'm glad to be home Edited August 16, 2012 by tazinib1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Duchess Jack Posted August 16, 2012 Share Posted August 16, 2012 The Wench and I rented a 'castle' in the mountain's for a couple weeks. It was in the neighborhood of Dollywood. Strange area. Miles and miles of gimicky restaurants, mini-golf and such and traffic that moved at a crawl. I'm guessing that Memphis area is very different from Knoxville, which is pretty different from Nashville. PS Gas is pretty much a dollar cheaper than CA in most of the US. Beal Street is a hell of a lot of fun, I've always wanted to make it out when they have a blues fest going on. Just don't go to West Memphis. There's a reason they let Arkansas have that part . If you really wanna gamble while you're there, Tunica, MS is less than 30 minutes away, and much better casinos where you don't have to worry about getting mugged. tazinib1 Posted August 16, 2012 Author Share Posted August 16, 2012 Forgot to thank whoever dropped a beautiful 8 week old black lab in the back woods to die. We found him, cleaned him up, took him to the vet and he is in tip top shape. After 2 weeks of being on set, he has settled in to his new role in life as a set dog. He has come out of his shell and is a wonderful addition to our film family. He is currently waiting for the next gig.....those of you who have FB have more than likely seen the pictures I posted of him. Let the adventures begin for our little (soon to be HUGH lab) "Indie". Only service station for almost 20 miles so it was either that or go without...and I ain't going without), I discovered they made fresh breakfast each day. When ever I needed cigs or Red Bull, we would leave 30 minutes early and head to the BP for Bologna Bisquits....HEAVEN!!!! Yeah I never got this "all the girls are ugly in _____ town". I've traveled around this country a lot, in big cities and small towns. I've seen attractive and ugly in all these places. Maybe some people watch too much TV and think every woman should look like a model or actres. Bologna biscuits, hmm might have to try those. (3 leaves that is) I really didn't have a choice. The scenes involved a woman being chased by a man through the wilderness. Poison Ivy was everywhere at every location. Pretty much the entire Grip and Electric crew got it on our legs and arms. I'm still itchy beyond belief but the calamine lotion seems to work. Best suggestion in those cases where you have to work around it is cover up, long pants and long shirt. Then at least it isn't all over your arms and legs. If you're still itchy beyond belief and have it bad, then definitely don't try this suggestion, but for milder cases: Take cotton swab or wadded up paper towel covered in alcohol, and break the rules by essentially scratching the spots with it until they're opened. It will then dry it out from the alcohol. But again, DO NOT try this if you have a bad case, because you might very well end up making it worse and spread it.... While these types of movies tend to be on the lower end of the pay scale, they are more often than not the funnest to work on. Working and getting paid top dollar on union movies/television is nice and all, but the creative input you have working on indie films is second to none.
