Where does he go in a FF draft now?

Scorcher
Thats the best case scenario. After reading the full article I am thinking Demarco Murray is looking pretty good.
keggerz
Speculation by a doctor that hasn't even seen or treated Matthews....and he didn't really go out on any limb with what he said (see underlined) Addressing Ryan Mathews' return from a broken clavicle, the former team doctor for the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls suggested we might not see the San Diego Chargers running back until October. Mathews had talked about returning prior to the regular season, so what gives?
CaptainHook
I've broken a collar bone. I knew he wasn't coming back in 4-6 weeks and getting hit by a linebacker, especially if he needs surgery to repair it. I wouldn't be surprised if he misses half the season. Didn't Colston have a broken collarbone last year? He only missed a few games? It must not have been as severe . . . I don't think he had to have surgery. But that means it is possible. Collar bone injuries are a bitch.

Croe
I'm glad I put him on my DND list this season. Even still, I thought about drafting him when he fell to the 4th round. Glad I didn't now if that time table holds up
Chloroform Rx
This doctor has never met Mathews or [presumably] Colston and says it takes 6 weeks for the bone to heal. There are several things wrong here.

keggerz
any time table for a return is nothing more than pure speculation...the only thing that we really know is that he will return this season...and when that happens there will be value there...how much value will depend on where you get him if you in turn draft him
tazinib1
He just said today on XTRA Sports that he has "NO DOUBT" he'll be ready for week 1. I sure as hell hope so.
piratesownninjas
yep, but like I said, Colston didn't have surgery either . . . Surgery has become commonplace in a clavicle break to ensure that the bone heals correctly in place. I'm not saying he'll be ready week 1, but what I've read suggests that he'll be back no later than week three.

stevegrab
The thread started with an article from a doctor who has not evaluated or treated Matthews speculating on when he'll return. Some take that as gospel, even though it just some educated guess, and really not specific on when he WILL return, only when we MIGHT SEE HIM. Then you tell us how Matthews said on the radio "I WILL PLAY WEEK ONE", which again is just him making a statement. Why do people believe an athlete when they make these kind of statements? I consider it about as reliable as that doctor's statement. The fact is we really don't know when he'll return. Could be week one but that seems unlikely after surgery and the 4-6 week timetable. Could be week 5-6 after a longer rehab and getting prepared to play (considering he mised most of camp). It almost seems like we have people latching onto and believing reports that fit what they want to hear or believe will happen. I'm being a little long winded, keggerz made the same analysis of the doctor's report that I did, and I'm simply saying the same applies to what Matthews is saying, it simply cannot be trusted. There is risk wtih this guy, how much is debatable.
