SecondString
Interested to hear opinions. I feel that Bradshaw has a good chance to have a career year. I fully understand that he has a helluva time staying healthy, with the foot issues, but supposedly that is resolved. They have professed a new commitment to an improved ground game this year. David Wilson is looming, yes, but at this point, they are concerned about his abiity to grasp the playbook and pass protect. The rule for that backfield is "protect Eli, or don't play". So they will find some ways to work Wilson in for sure, but it will be a while before he is a threat to take significant time away fom Bradshaw, I believe. Am I the only one who feels this way? I seem to have Bradshaw ranked consistently higher than most. Edited August 19, 2012 by SecondString
Jackass
i'm leaning towards agreeing with you. however, a big question mark is bradshaws feet and whether he's fully recovered. It's hard to know that.
Scooby's Hubby
DJ Ware is the one who played the first half after Bradshaw left. Wilson did not play at all with Eli. Probably should pump the brakes on Wilson, a little.
RC94
IMO Bradshaw's upside is to get back to what he did in 2010, which was approximately 1,500 total yards. Even though Bradshaw is very tough and rarely misses much time, he is still always banged up and that has and probably will continue to slow him down. Every year he and/or the team claim he is fully healed and feeling great and every year he still has foot problems. I am not buying that he is over them. He has had time to rest and I am sure he is feeling better now than he did during the season, but I think that even if he remains the healthiest he has been in years, the NYG won't be giving him 300+ carries. This is a team that will always want to run some kind of RBBC when they can.

This is a team that will always want to run some kind of RBBC when they can. How do 300 carries and Bradshaw end up in the same sentence? The only time in his career Bradshaw has even gotten remotely close to 300 carries was 2010, and he stll missed that mark by about 25. Bradshaw's value is his versatility along with the handful of TDs he'll get. He's not a guy who'll amass a ton of touches but he optimizes his limited opportunities and is valuable enough in the passing game both as a receiver and blocker that he can play 3 downs. That makes him a solid R-B2 with a little upside. I don't quite see where the Giants have a back on their roster right now who is anywhere close to how well rounded and complete Bradshaw is. Wilson may be one day but he's got a ways to go. Bradshaw is entrenched as the starter right now even though Wilson looks sexy with all his potential. But Bradshaw likely caps out with his limited touches and the rest of the Giant backs will get a sniff every game depending on situation. It's the Coughlin way and it's awfully hard to argue with success.

I wouldn't worry about Ware, when Wilson learns how to block better he will be on the field alot and so will Bradshaw. Bradshaw is the clear #1, but Wilson will be the #2 and as the season goes on he will get more snaps.

Bradshaw is the clear #1, but Wilson will be the #2 and as the season goes on he will get more snaps. I've been trying to tell folks for quite some time that Ware is fools gold. He was the 3rd best RB on a Georgia team that featured Thomas Brown and Kregg Lumpkin, none of which are set to ever sniff a starting gig. The only thing noteworthy about him to me is his ideal size. Also, despite some speculation recently that Ware was the #2 after Wilson played with the burger-flippers in the last preseason game, Wilson was actually running with the first team in practice in Bradshaw's absence. If Wilson can get down the blocking, then I think he can carve out a pretty sizeable workload. He definitely brings explosiveness and elusiveness that they're raving about. That's the big IF right now however, since he obviously won't see the field that much if he gets Eli killed back there.
